Windows 10: Browsers and Apps have no audio or straight up won't play media. Restarting "Windows Audio"...

I am in Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100, HP Laptop 15s - Ryzen 5 5625U. Occasionally, even on fresh boot-up, my media players would not play anything. In edge or chrome browser, YT and the video would load but would not play. In apps: in VLC - video is laggy and has no audio, and in Premiere - the video preview is extremely stuttery. Initially, the solution I always did was restarting Windows, then it would be fixed. When it occurred in Premiere, I searched online and found out: open services.msc > search for "Windows Audio" > right click it and hit restart. Restarting Windows Audio in s

Videos and audios Won't Play

• Are you able to play videos and audios using Windows Media player or other application with in your system?
• Which browser are you using?
• Does this issue occurs using different browser?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

Step 1: Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

1. Press Windows key on your keyboard

2. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting..

3. Click on view all (on the left panel)

4. Select Playing Audio troubleshooter

5. Follow the prompted steps to troubleshoot this issue.

6. Follow the same steps to troubleshoot
Video playback.

Step 2: Also try to update drivers and check.

Media Player Audio??

While i try to play a DVD movie on my computer with Windows Media Player i get no Audio out of it. What do i need so i can have audio??

 

Audio CD's not playing

You seem to have a missing entry in the features list, there should be a + with Windows Media Player tick box. Unless you have some corporate version of Windows 10 with restrictions of some sort.

It is your Media player that does not play Audio CDs, these are Data discs not files.

Mine shows correctly as in post #9 that is how File Explorer represents those CD Audio data Tracks with WMP as default.

On my Laptop, with 5 listed Music players.
Windows Media Player, IrfanView(with plugins) plays the Audio CDs, but not VLC Player(apps version), Toshiba Media Player, Groove Music.

I don't have iTunes. That you will have to check.

Groove Music is in the MS Store(free as you would expect), should be showing as Installed, but of no use in this case.
