Windows 10: Browsers receiving no wifi unless outside program is being ran

I have a windows 10, MSI gaming laptop and recently had a hard drive failure. Swapped the HHD out for a SSD. And used the BurnRecovery tool MSI comes with. I booted into the Recovery USB and windows loaded. Soon after I started seeing issues with my internet browsers.

Whenever I launch an internet browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox) web pages are slow to load/ do not load at all. I receive the Error ( ERR_TIMED_OUT) frequently. However, whenever I launch a program like a video game that requires internet, the browsers start working. Once that video game or program is shutdown, the internet browser web-pages stop loading and display the ERR_TIMED_OUT

I have forgotten the WIFI from Network list then restarted my computer and issue persisted.
I have reset/turned off my router/modem, restarted my computer and issue persisted.
I have reinstalled/updated my Wireless internet driver and then did previous steps above and issue still persists.

As of now, all I know to do is reformat my SSD and reinstall windows.

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10


I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

Can you tell us what you're doing? Step by step? What program are you using? Like I say, if you're using VLC, any codecs you install won't help you at all since VLC doesn't actually look outside of its own libraries.

Just list the steps that you're taking.
