Windows 10: BSOD 20H2 vhdmp!VhdmpiHaltActiveSurface+12f

Hello,

I am having recurrent BSODs Blue screen of death, more precisely on these dates:

10/16/2020, 11/10/2020, 12/9/2020, 1/6/2021, 1/8/2021, 1/9/2021, 1/12/2021, 1/13/2021, 1/16/2021, 1/17/2021, 1/18/2021, 1/18/2021 twice on this day, 1/20/2021, 1/21/2021, 1/21/2021 twice that day, 1/26/2021, 1/27/2021, 1/28/2021, 2/6/2021. It seems that one crash happened also on 2/2/2021 since I have minidump file from that day with UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION 154, but did not take a note about that one.

They started to occur roughly about when I started to use VS Code with WSL for programming in python and I still suspect it is the problem. Although I think BSOD happened also on the day that I did not use VS Code or WSL.


Details:

I have OS on SSD and internal HDD for data and I have run chkdsk /r on HDD partition.
SSD has 97% Wear Indicator according to CrystalDiskInfo.
Memtest86+ showed no errors in 14 hours after 8 passes.
On 1/21/2021 sfc /scannow and dism restorehealth found some corruption and they fixed it. So now they show no corruption, but new BSOD occured afterward.
On 1/30/2021 I run Windows Deffender offline scan and also a quick scan.

On 1/5/2021 I changed WSL 1 to WSL 2 and since then minidump from yesterday shows different kind of error vhdmp.sys vhdmp!VhdmpiHaltActiveSurface+12f, where before was always NT! error.
I suspect vhd has to do with WSL 2 virtualization.


I have Windows 20H2 OS Build 19042.746 and latest BSOD had 7a message:

Stop code: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

What failed: whdmp.sys

BSOD Page fault when updating to 20H2 - Electric Boogaloo

Hello

I'm attempting to upgrade to 20H2 but have been stopped for the last couple of months by BSOD incurred by Intel Engine Management Interface.

I came across this thread which seemed promissing as the person involved had the same motherboard as and seemingly the same cause.
I tried all of the suggestions in that thread in order to figure out what the cause or fix could be. Sadly none of them worked.

These are the steps I undertook in order:
- Reseated the RAM (Failure to install upgrade afterwards)
- Clean install (Failure to install upgrade afterwards)
- Installed msi intel Management provided by MSI (Failure to install upgrade afterwards)
- Disabled the device in device Management (Failure to install upgrade afterwards)

I've ran a short memtest to see if any quick issues popped and that was not the case.




I've updated the information on my profile to reflect my device as accurately as possible.

20H2 should not be installed right-away on your device - MS said the rollout is only to a fraction of users and would be labeled as an optional update initially. Are you enrolled in WIP?

You may uninstall 20H2 using the steps below:

20H2 Update BSOD Problem -While Trying the Updating

Hello,

I have a BSOD Problem. While I trying to update my Windows 10 from 1909 to 20H2 I always get BSOD at updating screen.

Already done with cmd command restore health and sfc scan but nothing happened
