  1. BSOD after cloned 250GB SSD to 500GB SSD (both SATA)

I used Macrium Reflect to do the clone. 250GB Samsung 850EVO to 500GB Samsung 860EVO, both drives are SATA.

Computer worked fine for about 24 hours, then I started getting BSOD's, I don't have a screenshot, but it said "critical error" or something like that. Finally, the computer sounded like it would boot up, but nothing on the screen. I even powered down, unplugged AC and pulled the battery and waited 30 seconds. Tried rebooting and still a black screen. I swapped back in the 250GB SSD and it booted flawlessly and no BSOD's.

The obvious solution is to do a fresh install (it'll take me several days to get it back to operational status with various settings, software, etc etc) onto the 500GB SSD.

Any ideas what might've caused this? I've cloned many SATA disks before, HDD to HDD, HDD to SSD but this is a first of SSD to SSD.

I do get occasional BSOD's with the 250GB SSD, but only when I unplugged a particular USB device, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface and it only happens about 1 out 5 times or so. I'm hoping I don't have a bad USB system or something like that. When this happens, the laptop is on a docking station but the 2i2 is plugged direct into a USB port on the laptop. I have no idea of the BSOD's with the 250GB SSD have anything to do with the cloned 500GB SSD.

    System is:

ThinkPad T540p i7-4700MQ, 16GB RAM (CPU was upgraded a few months ago from an i5-4300M)

    Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041

    Automatic updates are turned on.

    Thank you!

    Clone SSD to bigger SSD

I just did this last week. Upgraded from a Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD to a Samsung EVO 860 500GB SSD.
I used Macrium from Kyhi's Recovery Tools as NavyLCDR mentioned above. I selected Clone from the current 250GB SSD and selected the 500GB SSD as the target, Told it to delete all partitions on the target first then let it run.

Once it finished. I removed the 250, moved the 500 to the SATA cable the 250 had been on, powered up and everything worked perfectly.

I then took the 250GB SSD and connected it to my laptop which had a 300GB 5400RPM spinner. Installed Macrium on the Laptop, cloned the 300 GB drive to the smaller 250GB SSD, swapped drives and booted up and all was fine and it boots a whole lot faster.

Macrium is an excellent tool for cloning.

  3. Unable to Boot to Windows 10 after Cloning old SSD to new SSD

    Hi,

I'm not using the SATA ports. I'm using M.2 with the SSD, and the external SSD is connected to my PC using USB. My MB only has only one M.2 socket, so I can only plug in one SSD at a time. (I bought a wrong adapter that doesn't work with NVMe) So I cloned
my old SSD to an external SSD (Samsung M3 Portable SSD), and then swapped the old one, cloned the external SSD to my new SSD.

I tried AOMEI too, but the free version does not come with disk clone functions. I would probably try Macrium Reflect as suggested above. Thank you!

BSOD after cloned 250GB SSD to 500GB SSD (both SATA)

Missing Boot record (Error code: 0xc000000e) after cloning OS from an NVMe SSD to a SATA SSD

After purchasing a new 1TB SATA SSD for increased storage capacity, I wanted to clone my C: drive and OS to this SSD from my original NVMe 1TB Storage SSD, format the NVMe by wiping it clean and then transfer the OS from the SATA SSD back to the NVMe.

With a completely wiped NVMe SSD, I rebooted my PC hoping it would boot from the SATA SSD however came across the Blue Screen Error code 0xc000000e. At this point I think I have erased my boot record, originally thinking it was copied over with the clone

So far I have managed to reinstall windows onto a temporary 120GB SATA SSD, transfer this onto the NVMe SSD but now want to somehow restore/recover the OS clone drive made on the 1TB SATA SSD with the missing boot record so I do not lose my licence key and
    a lot of other data.

Thankfully I use Onedrive and cloud based storage extensively so I'm not worried for documents and files but more for the PC settings which were optimised as a workstation from home.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
