Windows 10: BSOD after upgrade from Windows 7. Cannot Boot.

I cannot start Windows my laptop. I can get into safe mode. I've tried to system restore and clean boot. I have tried verifier which gives the error iastor.sys

Windows 10 stuck in bsod reboot loop

I created a Windows 10 installation on my USB drive; I changed the boot order to boot from that and it did nothing but sit at a black screen with the cursor prompt flashing.

The only disc I have for Windows 7 is an upgrade disc; when I boot from that, it goes through the process of loading windows but then I get a BSOD with an error I cannot recall at this time.

I am attempting to let my PC cycle through the BSOD reboots, as a co-worker of mine told me that worked for him. I will reply if it works when I get home.

 

BSOD after upgrade to windows 10

After upgrading Win 7 to Windows 10 my PC endswith BSOD every time it boots up.

If I let it finish the boot without logging in, it BSODs at the end of the boot.

If I log in as soon as I am able to, it BSODs at the end of the boot/login.

Maybe one of the last services loaded is cause of the BSOD?

I can boot to safe mode with no problems,

and in the Windows system log I see lots of faults under the latest normal boot sequence.

What do I do to narrow down the problem?

The Nvidia Video driver has been flagged many times.
Please check your manufacturer for driver updates.

All I see there is display related issue.

Uninstall the installed display driver in Display Driver Uninstaller, obviously in Safe Mode.

Then download and install 355.82 WHQL.

Now try to boot to normal mode. Can you do it? Let us know.

 

Thanks Axe0 and Arc for the quick replies. Ive installed Display Drive Installer and managed to load Windows.

When I try to install NVIDIA's 355.82 WHQL driver I get the BSOD. I will try the Asus and NVidia forums with help on the latest drivers for my notebook.

Please use the tool again and upload the zip file, chrome is blocking the rar file.

 

There's no need for him to do that. Just allow the file to be downloaded.
dxgkrnl.sys is the culprit in all the BSODs.

If that doesn't work. Try testing your GPU with Furmark while monitoring temps closely, and quitting if they get too high or if you experience any artifacts.

I cannot accept the download, Chrome thinks it is malicious and has blocked it.

 

That's your settings. You have phishing and malware protection enabled in Chrome. That's blocking your download. It's not the user. And the file is clean. I can guarantee it.

 

I'm aware of that yes, but I haven't found the option to disable it and I'm pretty well with the settings in Chrome.

I don't think there is a file called nvlddmkm.sys in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\?

Please try to install the drivers from your manufacturer
If those were causing trouble try from here.
