    BSOD Alienware 15 R1, Error 0x124 and 0x133 hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe

Hello! I'm having BSOD problems like DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR caused by hal.dll and ntoskrnl.exe. I'm using an Alienware 15 R1 with Intel i7 4710HQ with GTX980M and 16GB DDR3 RAM. This started somewhere around the middle of the year 2017. I've had this laptop for roughly 3-4 years and actually from the start had many issues like CPU Throttling and FPS drops in-game.

But right now I'm having an even major issue, I face BSOD such as the errors listed above every single time I shut down my computer. Booting up is fine and shutting down straight away after starting up the computer is fine. But if I play a very taxing game such as Playerunknown's Battlegrounds or maybe even CS:GO after that session I would face these BSOD when attempting to shut down my computer. Sometimes even in the midst of these games I would randomly encountered a BSOD, especially the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error.

I don't recall ever dropping the laptop, I've always kept my laptop in optimal temperatures but it does get pretty hot when I start gaming.

I greatly appreciate it if anyone could help!

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. Frequent BSOD on brand new alienware laptop.

I have a brand new Alienware 15 R2 laptop with Windows 10 Pro installed from factory. Facing an issue where it frequently crashes. Goes into BSOD on boot at the login screen, reboots, again BSOD then reboots to menu where I can reboot to safe mode.

Sometimes I just need to uninstall and reinstall the application (Origin, UPLAY, 7 ZIP) and the issue stops. But now it just crashes in between use.

BlueScreenView shows error to be Bad_pool_header or IRQ_not_less_or_equal error for NTOSKRNL.EXE, along with IASTORA.SYS, USBXHCI.SYS, HAL.DLL,WDIWIFI.SYS

    Can someone help with this?

    1. Update the Nvidia Driver and check with Nvidia Support, there online documentation and drivers, and ask in their forums about any known issues.

Nvidia - Drivers - Use OPTION 1 to manually enter your driver info to get most current drivers.

    Download Drivers | NVIDIA

Nvidia Support - check with Support as it could be a known issue

Thank you for your response! I think I've updated the Qualcomm Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN device driver through the "Killer Networking" website at Other Downloads . I remember I have clearly updated this driver many times! I don't know much about PCs but this particular Card/Driver has been giving me problems since Day 1.

Whenever I had Wifi turned on or if I'm gaming on Wifi midway through a game I would be faced with a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error. Right just now when I tried to update it the screen froze and I had to force shutdown my laptop by holding down the power button. After booting it back up I updated it and everything seems fine.

I will do the MemTest overnight and report the results back tomorrow!

  6. Hi, I hope its okay for breaking in here....

most of the dumps show stop code 0x133 with the killer wifi network drivers as culprit:

Hello BSODHunter! Thanks for your input, I think I've updated it already. I've redownloaded the Killer Networking Suite from the website as instructed by softwaremaniac as well but I'm still confused about the Memtest86 forum.

I've successfully managed to finish up until Step 10 in that forum but I'm unsure of how to boot from E:/ right now... I've search countless numbers of Memtest86 tutorials online on YouTube but none of them use the USB method and the ones who do have a different BIOS layout. I'm stuck again sorry!

So sorry for the extremely late followup @zbook ! I've been utterly busy with school work and the likes and only had time to perform what you wrote today.

I've done everything as instructed and am going to test gameplay while on Wi-Fi right now. Usually, if I used Wi-Fi while gaming I would run into the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION error. I am pasting the results of the Command Prompt codes below. I do not think anything is wrong with my system in terms of those codes.

@zbook Sigh, I don't think that solved anything *Sad I just got another 0x01d3 error barely 2 minutes into gameplay. It was caused by the Qcamain10x64.sys: Qualcomm Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN device driver as stated from BlueScreenView. I'm dumping the updated minidumps of BSODs here. Attachment 147578

There was 1 new bsod dated 8/7/2017.
This file when debugged displayed the same driver in an earlier post.
Please indicate all of the steps that were made uninstalling and reinstalling this driver.
And please find all available drivers from the the computer manufacturer/killer networking
for each windows 10, windows 8.1, and windows 7.0.
Please post this into the thread.
For the time being please follow the steps in this link for updating the misbehaving driver:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...=1436753520149

Run memtest86+ version 5.01 for at least 8 runs.
This may take many hours so plan to run it overnight.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
When Memtest86+ has completed 8 or more runs use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post images of the results into the thread.
Just 1 error is a fail. If there is a fail you can abort testing.
If there is a fail then test 1 RAM at a time in the same DIMM each for 8 or passes.
The number of passes is critical.
There are too many false negatives when fewer than 8 passes are made.
A false negative is a pass when there is malfunctioning RAM.
