  3. Unable to login after entering account password in windows 10

    Hi Vanshaj

    Thank you for your reply.

I somehow managed to get a bootable dvd of windows 10 and tried running chkdsk command but it did not helped.

I tried following steps to create a new profile:

    • boot from windows 10 dvd.
    • Opened cmd by hitting SHIFT+F10.
    • By default it was showing X:\source>
    • I tried to look for windows\system32 in both C: and D: drives (though my windows was installed in CBSOD- cmd.exe opens X:\Windows \System32 :).
    • But was able to locate it in X:\windows\system32
    • when i tried renaming utilman.exe it was unable to locate utilman.exe in system32 folder
    • I tried renaming sticky keys exe (sethc.exe) too but was unable to find it too.
Please suggest if anything else can be done to save my personal data.

    Thanks

    BSOD- cmd.exe opens X:\Windows \System32

    CMD prompt opens to X:

Hi all. Just upgraded to Windows 10 and for some reason, my cmd prompt opens to X:. I'm not sure why it does that, but if I launch in Admin mode, it usually opens to C:[yada yada]. I'm not sure if this is the cause of many problems I am having with Python, pip, etc all crashing, but that's another question for another thread.

Does anyone know why cmd opens to X and how I can stop that? Seems like it shouldn't do that.
