  1. BSOD crash WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

    Hello guys,

I have recently experienced several BSOD crashes - WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. It occurs during playing games on my MSI GS60 2QE laptop. It is ok for few hours and then it crashes 1-3 times in a row. The laptop was in repair service 2times but never returns fully repaired. I have uploaded minidump files from the last crashes. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you!

    :)

  2. memory management bsod

Your suggested fixes seemed to have stopped the persistent BSODs, but I still tried several fixes for the ones seemingly caused by transferring files and other operations.

I updated the chipset, the bluetooth drivers, audio drivers, and went through the Device Manager updating every single driver there.

It seemed to have solved the "Memory_Management" BSODs, although I have received two "Whea_Uncorrectable_Error" BSODs(one of which was orange), probably caused by "hal.dll" since.

EDIT: I may have spoken a little too prematurely, tried putting a little more load on the system by running a game and it crashed it again..Memory Management..

Could you update the BIOS from MSI to the newest version please.

  6. On MSI support site for GS60_2QE (Win 8.1 default) there is only an E16H5IMS.50C so it should be actual.
But I can see that for GS60 6QE (Win 10 default) there is also a newer version E16H7IMS.117.
I am not sure if I can use this newer BIOS for my 2QE.

Do you think that I should update the BIOS to E16H7IMS.117?

    Thank you for your time!

Odd, there's nearly a year difference between the BIOS date from your logs and the BIOS date from the support page.

Do you know what the repair service did?

  8. BSOD crash WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

The whole story started August 2017. My laptop started to freeze and turn off during GPU usage. I needed my laptop so I had kept it for another 4 months, it was somehow stable on CPU (only 1-2 crushes). There was no BDOS screen before, only freeze -> crush and orange control indicate power supply problem while trying to stress the GPU. So I bought new AC/DC adapter but it did not solve the problem.
After this, I have decided to finally send it to the repair in January. After 2 weeks it comes back and the GPU works, but instead of the black crush (which occurred within a minute of GPU usage), the BDOS started. 1-3 times per day but after several hours of gaming or GPU usage. Unfortunately, I have 0 information about this first repair.
After that, I kept the laptop for another 2-3 weeks trying to reinstall OS, update drivers anything I possibly could do without touching the hardware.
For the 2nd repairment, they had kept the laptop for 4 weeks. It worked for 2 days without a crush but then it started again. But for this repairment, they wrote: "SWAP SSD MODULE", "REINSTALL OS". After it started again I realized that I had some strange issue with even HDD or SSD as well. I experienced very slow writing/reading during manipulating with bigger files. So I have decided that I will also buy and replace the HDD since they swapped the SSD. It did not crash for 4 days but on Monday, it started again.

    So the facts are:
    • there were GPU power supply crushes as the first issue
    • there were a ssd/hdd issues probably (maybe it could be cpu issue?) as well
    • BDOS started after GPU repairment but GPU as itself works (at least several hours)
I still hope it is some windows and drivers or bios issues. Where is that "year difference" I can't find it in the logs? Could it be the RAM issue? What else can I check, update or try to find the cause?

In systeminfo.txt, look for BIOS Version, compare it with the BIOS date on the support page, I added it below for comparison.
Code: BIOS Version: American Megatrends Inc. E16H5IMS.50C, 11/3/2015 <-- day/month/year 2016-09-27[/quote] I need to correct myself, it's over a year.

This is a wild guess, but I suspect the motherboard is causing your problems.

If it is a BIOS issue, I would hope it's a corrupted setting that can be fixed by setting it back to the default, else you can only hope a new BIOS update fixes it. Unfortunately, a BIOS bug is something that's very, very difficult to narrow down, it took me several months on a personal case (see Random system freezes for weeks Solved - Windows 10 Forums).

If I am even a little close to correct, you will have to send it back for replacement again. Typically, the battery, RAM and drives are fairly easy to replace, everything else is more difficult and is best done by someone who knows how to do it. If it's not the RAM or motherboard (doubt the GPU or drives), it'll be the CPU.
To test the RAM, please follow the below instructions carefully, if you have any questions about the test don't hesitate to ask.

    Note
    BSOD crash WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR [IMG]

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.
