BSOD Critical Process Died + Others when playing certain video games

So this began happening about a week and a half ago when I was playing both Enter the Gungeon and Half-Life 2 (not at the same time). I would be playing as normal, then switch my weapon, and the last half-second of audio loops for a while and then my computer redirects me to the normal BSOD-thing. (This could very well be related to overheating, but I've already taken measures to reduce heating on my laptop). I've already looked through a few threads for help, but I'm not sure if any of them would have solved my problem. I'm really worried that this is a hardware issue, since I've only had this laptop for two years.

    Things I've tried:
    • Running sfc/scannow (Which yielded corrupt files)
    • Reinstalling windows (Which fixed ^that problem)
    • Installing the latest BIOS and drivers from Dell's website
    • Running CCleaner
    • Looking for bad .dll's or .exe's in BlueScreenView (hal.dll being fixed and ntoskrnl.exe staying around. Notify me if you'd like screenshots.)

    Things I haven't tried:

Any help/advice/solutions would be greatly appreciated. If I've missed anything/need to add more information, please tell me.

    Attachment 89744

EDIT: Very sorry, I've been getting both Critical Process Died and Whea Uncorrectable Error BSOD's recently.

    Test results:
    IntelBurnTest - Successful Attachment 89789

    Chkdsk - Successful Attachment 89795

FurMark - Successful (Max. Temperature: 78) Attachment 89805

    :)

  2. BSOD - Critical Process Died and Unexpected Store Exception

    Hi,

Does the SSD have the latest firmware? Check with its maker.

Heat could still be in play as even a single component could be too sensitive to the normal levels of heat.

Surge protectors can cause unusual power related situations.

The upstairs outlet could be involved though it is more likely to be that a (even slightly) lower power level is what is available there. Playing the more intense games could require slightly more power pushing the system into fault. And/or the video card or
other hardware could be pulling too much power or the PSU is too small for the computer as presently configured. Have you experienced any brown out type issues with other hardware?

BSOD Critical Process Died/Store Exception Error

No, sometimes it happens right when I turn on my laptop, and sometimes it happens randomly when I'm browsing or playing moba games.

    Hello Tiss,

You have made a good start! *Smile

Please go through the tests you have not yet tried, they are very informative for the 0x124 errors. Take care to do them properly, memory needs testing for eight passes which could take up to 16 hours or more for your amount of memory. Make sure you monitor the core temperatures during the CPU and GPU stress tests and stop if they reach over 85°C. It is useful if you can post screen captures of any of the information you get.

I'll update my original post periodically once I've completed the tests -- thanks for replying so quickly.

I don't think I'm able to run MemTest86+ as it was intended to be -- I'm not sure if my BIOS allows me to boot into a USB (Which MemTest is installed in). So, for the time being, let's assume I have something wrong with my RAM. What should I do?

I tried again doing everything that the guide (using method 1, my computer doesn't have the same interface as method 2) and you said, but the error "System doesn't have any USB boot option. Please select othr boot option in Boot Manager Menu" appears on screen. Is there any way to bypass this message?

I figured out how to run MemTest on my computer -- I had to enable Legacy Booting on my laptop's BIOS. I'm running the tests now.

These problems seem to have passed, so I'll close this thread and begin a new one, since a couple other issues have appeared.
