    In need of a wee bit of help here. Got my PC second hand a while back, and just recently had to move it across town to a new place, so it's been bumped around a wee bit recently but haven't dropped it or anything. Ever since I fired it up when I got here it's been having issues where it'll bluescreen about a minute after hitting a logon screen, with the stopcode stating critical process died - this happened the first time I powered it on in the new place and hadn't installed any new software or anything before I left.


    I'm booting windows off an SSD and I'm now 90% sure the problem is a fault with the boot disk. My BIOS settings seem to be completely whacked, with the SSD sometimes completely disappearing from the boot options list. and I occasionally get an error on startup stating to select proper boot device. I've loaded default BIOS settings and fiddled with a bunch of things in there and occasionally got it running fine - once it's fired up, if it doesn't BSOD in the first few minutes, it seems to continue to run smoothly with no problems until I shut it down again. Haven't fully reset the bios yet i.e. removing the cmos battery but wonder if I should try it.


    In any case, here's where things start getting weird. The one time I got it to boot in safe mode it ran fine, no crashes. Being as this was the one time I'd managed to get it going in several hours I then went ahead to reset windows I've a recent backup and had been meaning to do this for a while, and when it came back up and I started going through the setup, it bluescreened again - same stopcode, same request for a proper boot device. The time it takes before this happens seems to now vary quite a bit - all seemed to be going fine for about 15 minutes at one point until after I created a pin.


    I'm now thoroughly confused, and can't tell if this is an issue with maybe a corrupted driver, a program causing issues with my installation, a BIOS issue, a physical issue maybe a busted SATA cable or a wonky connection somewhere or if the disk is messed up.


    Anyone know what the heck is going on? Any advice at all appreciated.
