    Thanks.

    Please try the following:

    • Open an elevated Command Prompt by right-clicking on CMD.EXE shortcut in your start menu and selecting Run As Administrator from the context menu.
    • Type the following commands:
      Code:
      REG EXPORT HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule %TEMP%\Schedule.reg
      REG ADD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Schedule /F /V Start /T REG_DWORD /D 2
    • Reboot the computer.

    MY REMARKS
When I try to create a basic task I get the same issue. Followed the above exactly.

When I rebooted, the computer asked for the password, as usual and booted as usual about 30 seconds after rebooting I got the BSOD and Msg My first problem with Win 10

your PC ran into problems and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then you can restart. (0%) complete)
If you'd like to know more, you can search online for this error: CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED

Still at 0% after ten minutes, seems frozen, did a hard reboot and tried to use the "command prompt, as admin, SFC/SCANNOW but could only get SFC typed before it crashed again. Typing this from my laptop Sure could use some help.

I was able, with another hard boot to access the repair and clicked on System Restore. I had a recent saved point. Seemed to be working, but for the last two hours just getting a small blue window (like the icon in the lower left of my screen) and dots circling clockwise. I am afraid to turn it off because it may be doing the slowest ever restore, but wonder how long I should leave it running?

I upgraded this computer from WIN7 Ult, and don't have a clue as to how to reinstall (shudder) if necessary.

My laptop is native W10 if that helps..

    :)

Computer reboots with: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000ef

The dmp file showed a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (ef) stop error (BSOD).

The Release Notes for the Intel storage driver lists a resolved issue being a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (ef) BSOD.

The S3/S4 would be related to sleep if you notice the error tends to occur more going into or out of sleep.

I believe the new driver would be very beneficial but as a general precaution you could create a System Restore Point beforehand.

    BSOD: CRITICAL PROCESS DIED

Try installing the latest Intel RST driver directly from Intel:

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27400...

As a general precaution create a System Restore Point before installing storage drivers.

One of the fixes of the latest drivers is "BSOD during S3/S4 cycling with a bug check 0xEF(CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED)"

    BSOD CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED trying system restore.

    Hi Cadillac Bill,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

For a next time when a bluescreen occurs, please read How to upload files

Since you have upgraded from Windows 7, please consider a clean install.
With the upgrade, several bugs may occur that causes system instability.
    Windows 10 - Clean Install - Windows 10 Forums
If you have already done a clean install, or don't (yet) want to do it, please follow instructions below

    Clean boot
    Please try the following:
    • Open taskmanager
      • Go to the tab startup
      • disable everything
    • Search msconfig and open it
      • Go to the tab services
      • Check 'hide microsoft services'
      • Uncheck all other services
      • Click apply and click ok
    • Reboot if asked
See if the problem persist, if the problem does not persist enable in the startup tab in taskmanager 1 item and in the services tab in msconfig also 1 service, reboot and see if the problem persist. Keep doing this until you find the culprit or there is nothing left.
If the problem still persist, try booting in safe mode and see if the problem still persist.

  5. I did read the posting instructions, but could not comply because the computer died too quickly. I think my SSD drive (OS) is going. Not sure how to do a clean install because my Win7 disk is an upgrade from WIN XP, and my Win 10 is an online upgrade from Win7. Perpahs we should start there when I get a new SSD drive? Will check back and thanks.
