BSOD DPC watchdog violation while playing Youtube videos

Hello, I am posting here as a last resort. I have not been able to figure out why I am getting periodic DPC watchdog errors on my PC. During Youtube video playback, it tends to have artifacts and stuttering at any resolution, but it plays fine for a random amount of time before crashing with the afforementioned BSOD. My computer worked fine for two months, and the only hardware change I made before the crashes started was to install custom watercooling. However, I have googled around and seen that this is a driver issue, not a hardware one, which I have now tried to solve with no luck. I have contacted Nvidia support and their solutions have not worked either. I have tried:

    • Re-installing Nvidia drivers with DDU in safe mode, various versions, only GPU and PhysX, no HD Audio drivers, but none work, although some did give me less artifacting during video playback.
    • Re-installed Windows 10, formatted disk and everything. no change. If it changes anything, I boot from a m.2 SSD.
    • Re-installed various drivers, AMD chipset, Realtek LAN etc., upgraded to the newest versions. No luck. Although the Nvidia support guy did tell me to downgrade rtwlane.sys, a Realtek wireless driver, to a 2016 (earlier) version, Realtek's website only has the latest version, and Device Manager does not recognize an earlier version downloaded from Softpedia as being there to install, even if I choose manually and it's sitting in the Downloads folder.
    • Reset all overclocks on CPU and RAM, I had none on GPU originally anyway. No change.
    • Ran Memtest. No errors.
    • Upgraded to various versions of Windows 10, from the stock 1607 that comes with the install to the latest 1709 through update. No change.

In short, I hate my life. I've attached three pictures showing the artifacting on Youtube 1440p 60Hz playback, my monitor's native resolution. Also attached the dump files required by the sticky.

    :)

BSOD DPC watchdog violation while playing Youtube videos

    Hi dkbtt69,

The dubugging displayed Nvidia graphics as the misbehaving driver.
The logs indicated problems with the firmware.
The bugchecks were 0x133 DPC watchdog violation. In general this stop code is caused by faulty driver code that under certain conditions, does not complete its work within the allotted time frame.
Some of the testing will be repeated to have another assessment of the computer environment.

For all tests please post images into the thread.
If there are any problems posting images please use one drive or drop box share links.

Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    1) sfc /scannow
    2) dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    3) chkdsk /scan
    4) netsh winsock reset
    5) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread
    6) Make sure that there is no over clocking while troubleshooting.
    7) Sometimes there are problems in the bios that produce bsod.
The BIOS: Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. F6a, 08.09.2017
    8) Please reinstall the bios.
    9) To ensure that there are no improper bios settings please reset the bios.

    10) Run memtest86+ version 5.01 for at least 8 passes.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
This may take hours so plan to run it overnight.
Please make sure you use the Memtest86+ version 5.01 with the link below.
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
The testing is done not by time but by passes.
    The more passes the better.
There are a significant number of false negatives if fewer than 8 passes are made.
A false negative is a test pass when there is malfunctioning RAM.
There is 16 GB of RAM on the computer.
    Memtest86+ version 5.01 testing takes approximately 1 - 2 hours /GB RAM
Just 1 error is a fail and you can abort testing.
Then test 1 RAM module at a time in the same DIMM each for 8 or more passes.
When Memtest86+ has completed 8 or more passes use a camera or smart phone camera to take a picture and post an image into the thread.

    11) The best way to fix the misbehaving Nvidia driver is to uninstall everything Nvidia using Display driver uninstaller and install new drivers from the computer manufacturer's website or from the Nvidia website.
The computer manufacturer's web site is preferred.
Enter the computer's serial or product number and the operating system to view available drivers.
If you use the Nvidia web site be sure the "clean install" box is checked and only install the graphics driver and the physx driver.

    12) After the bios and Nvidia are both updated plan to stress test the graphics with FurMark.

Wait for communication to start the testing. For now it is just for reading.

Read the link on the testing and the warnings about temperature, display artifacts, freezing, etc. so that if necessary you can abort the testing.
Aim to test for approximately 1 hour.
    Record the test duration.
    And Record the maximal temperature.
Run FurMark - GPU Stress Test Windows 10 Performance Maintenance Tutorials
Please make note of the importance of temperature monitoring and aborting the test in the GPU link.

    13) If updating the firmware and the graphics driver followed by testing pass then it will complete the troubleshooting. If there are persistent problems it may be necessary for you to find a friend, neighbor, relative, or local store to swap the video card. The card in this computer would then be tested in another computer and another computers card would be tested in this computer. These 2 tests should provide sufficient information about the status of the video card.

Tested Furmark for exactly one hour. No artifacts or stutter during testing. Max temp of 67 degrees celsius. In the meantime, I've had no BSODs. I disabled hardware rendering in Firefox 57 settings and have had no stutters thus far. Some minor artifacting whilst playing videos in video player still remains, but it's not that noticable and seems to cause no BSODs. I'll keep the thread open for a week in case the issue comes back. If it doesn't, I'll consider it solved, unless the underlying driver issue itself remains unsolved and causes me more trouble.
