Windows 10: BSOD DRIVER POWER STATE FAIL after cold boot of PC

Hello TenForums,newly system built last week, keep getting BSOD after a few seconds into windows login. After the restart everything works normal (games, videos, browsing the internet). Like the title says only happens after the cold boot when i turn the PC next day in the morning.

Checked with WhoCrashed and saw i8042prt.sys beloning to i think a PS/2 port driver (both connected keyboard and mouse are USB) don't know if it is the cause of the BSOD.

Drivers are up to date, bios is the latest from gigabyte webpage.

Win 10 removes audio driver on cold boot, restart restores it

Hello Deepak,

The cold boot I referred to was a normal boot from the Power Off state. (I have tried a clean boot and that of course, did not work either).

However, after 90 minutes with Microsoft Answer Desk Tech Support, Jhem solved the problem. Intel has released a BIOS Update (v.39) and after updating, the audio drivers remain and the sound now works from a Power Off state.

DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I updated my Bios driver to latest.

I could no longer boot, "BootMgr is missing". After searching the boards and troubleshooting, the bios had changed the hard drive to boot from. I was able to successfully boot up into Win10.

Cold start continued to produce BSOD, as before.

Following Team ZigZag suggestions, rename Pnp680.sys to *.bak, resolved BSOD and now cold start and warm start smoothly into Win10.

We fully realize that everyone with an illegal installation is not always aware of this. Some have shops who work on their computer or who reinstall windows for them only to find out when they come here that it is illegal. They paid for a legal copy, but wound up with a counterfeit one. The ones who bought from eBay, (or other online sources or were ripped off).

You may also report this type of thing to Microsoft who have been known to assist victims in the past
