Windows 10: BSOD error c:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.text

I'm trying to resolve the BSOD on my Dell Inspiron 7459 and keep encountering the same issue. When I get to the Automatic Repair screen I go to Advanced Options, Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Startup Settings, Restart, Startup Settings. When I make my selection from the Startup Settings list ( say for example #4 Safe Mode) it goes to the Preparing/Automatic Repair screen. The screen then goes black and what looks like a CMD box flashes on the screen (I'm assuming this would have been what I selected from the Startup Selection list) and it goes back to the black screen with the Dell logo that says Diagnosing your PC and from there back to the Automatic Repair screen. I continue to get the same results no matter what selection I make from the Startup Selection list. Any suggestions as to how I can prevent this so I can utilize the options from the Startup Selection list? Thanks.

Memory management error causing sleep issues in windows 10.

Problem was caused in my case by using the HDD (D: drive) to store all new content.

Windows was installed on a SSD (C and I suspect that when booting the HDD is not yet available. The first BSOD is STORE ERROR, and on the second Reboot the BSOD error is Memory Management.

Changing the default save location in Storage (Change where new content is saved) to the system drive fixes the BSOD after waking from sleep.

At least once a day this error gives me a BSOD ...

ESET Sysrescue says that everything is OK!

no virus in Defender (I've had a Trojan, but this has gone)

no malware in Spyhunter

I've used Piriform Speccy and saw that the temperature of NVIDIA Graphics sometimes, without reason, is up to 100 °C.

Could this have to do with this problem?

I wish I could understand what causes the BSODs.

Sounds like the file system has some corruption which prevents prevents using the Advanced Options from the drive.

You can try creating a Windows 10 install flash drive then boot it and take the Repair my computer path. From there you can run chkdsk, sfc, dism, System Restore, bootrec and other commands to try to repair the computer, at least enough to get it to boot.

Currently you will get the Fall Creators Update version, 16299.15.

 

I downloaded the program using my Dell laptop and put it on the desktop from there I loaded it onto a flash drive. Went to Automatic Repair/Advanced Options/Choose and Option/ Use a Device.

The choices were Onboard NIC IPV4 or IPV6. I tried both with no positive results. I also went F12 Boot Options route with no positive results.

If you followed the directions at the link I gave you, you should have download the Media Creation Tool. You need to run that which will then download the files necessary to create a bootable USB flash drive or create a ISO file. It is not in any way bootable.

I have the program installed on My Passport. I hit F12 and scroll down to USB1-Windows DVD (WD My Passport 08201007). Hit enter and get the blue box with the Windows logo. It has a box on the center that says Install Now. There is also a Repair Your Computer in the bottom left of the blue box. Which rout do I take? Install Now? or Repair Your Computer?

 

I clicked on Install Now and it asks which installation do I want? The first is Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications or Custom: Install Windows only (Advanced) . I would prefer the one that least affects the personal files I have on my PC.

 

Not sure if you are still waiting for an answer here but if you have not already done so I would select the Upgrade route - this keeps your personal files.

 

Thanks philc43, Here's what came up when I chose Upgrade.

"The Upgrade option isn't available if you start your computer using windows installation media.

If a copy of Windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows setup."

 

Yes, my mistake, you cannot do the upgrade install except from within a working installation. In your case you can only try the "repair your computer" option from the bottom left unless you want to do a clean install which will remove all your personal files.

 

Hmmm, that's a bummer.

 

What is the status of the drive?
Were there any chkdsk on boot problems?
Any history or paging errors or bad blocks?
Are the important files backed up?
Had you made a backup image of the drive?
If you needed to make a clean install would you be able to?
Had you considered a registry repair or backup?
There are also boot rescue options.
