    BSOD error code 0x000000c8 nwifi.sys

    Hi,

I'm new to win ten forums, reason to join in is this annoying BSOD issue some days after updating win7 pro to win 10.
Used Bluescreenviewer to get clues on the reason for this to happen, and it identifies nwifi.sys (amongst other programs) as the likely culprit.

Also folowed the instructions, so attached the zip with the required info.

Any help in resolving this issue is highly appreciated.

    :)

  2. nwifi.sys BSOD windows 10

    Hello,

I have recently been experiencing a BSOD with the nwifi.sys failure and the stop code DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have attached the minidump files as well at the end of this post.

    Thanks for your time.

Getting Blue Screens of Death on my Dell XPS 15 (Windows 10)

Since the start of July my brand new laptop which i bought in April started getting BSOD once per week.

It had an error code saying: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    and it says "nwifi.sys" failed.

here is my .dmp file: LINK

what the heck do i do now.

    Hi jvogels,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

The cause is your network driver, it is really old.
Updating will probably solve it, if there are compatible drivers for windows 10.
For drivers, scroll down for product support on this site.

Thanks for the quick reply, weird that such an old driver was installed, I bought my (TP-link) wireless card just recently, but then again, i cannot remember if i installed it in the win 7 or win 10 period...

Anyway, removed the old driver and ran the TP-link driver setup; now installed the newer (win 8.1) compatible driver. Will repost here in a few days if this has fixed the BSOD problems.

    cheers!

Did you install the driver yourself? If not then that would explain it, this happens more often.

I installed the driver manually, but my system was still windows seven back then. Forced my system to upgrade to win 10, already expecting some issues afterwards. I think i know what causes this driver not to update automatically, the most recent driver named after the wireless card's manufacturer (TP-Link) is still the win 7 version. The win 10 versioncarries the name of the manufacturer of the chip i guess, and that's qualcomm...

three days without BSOD recurring, so i think this can be marked solved.

One other, unrelated issue: are you aware that at some times, a dubious company called tweakbit seems to inject links in your forum threads on every word called "driver"? I saw this happening on this forum thread; all words labeled "driver" were set as link towards tweakbit. Not sure if this is happening from your side or from my webbrowers side, but all i know is that their reputation is very dubious. See also the user's "experience" in this site:

Tweak Bit reviews and fraud and scam reports. Is Tweakbit legit and safe? Tweakbit.com review.

one of the reviewers actually also mentions this tweakbit link injection issue on win 8 forums.

Good to hear you had no bluescreens *Smile

No, I wasn't aware of it, I didn't even know that site.

See screenshot below; it seems to turn on and off, somethimes it's there, sometimes not.

dont't think its related to a browser hijack on my side, as it also happend on my mobile phone (that one uses chrome, my pc uses firefox).

btw, feel free to fork this unrelated issue in an appropriate topic.

Well, it seems that it only happens when not logged in to the forum, see screeny below on win7, not logged on at that moment, and see also the replies. One person actually fell for that trick and intalled their rubbishware (or worse).
I personally feel that moderaters of thw windows forum should kick out such kind of "advertising" tricks, especially if it is done by a company that will probably further ruin your system, and especially if it happens on the windows 7/8/10 forums. Simply bad for your reputation, and even worse for users with little computer knowledge...
