Windows 10: BSOD etd.sys

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ETD.sys)

Hi,

I've been suffering this BSOD for a few months now. I tried updating to the latest driver with no success, rolled back to an earlier driver, still no luck.

The error can occur at any time, watching videos, gaming or even at idle.

Any help would be appreciated.

Elantech touchpad windows 10 on Acer Aspire laptop

Elantech's etd.sys keep giving me the bsod so I had to go the hour long

boot-bsod

attempt to repair boot

force power off and f8 boot

rename etd.sys boot

log in with digital keyboard and uninstall elantech so my laptop keyboard work boot

Elantech keeps stealth installing, I disabled auto driver installation last week and today I had to redo the whole thing because it somehow infected my system again. It's now a malicious virus to me.

So how do I actually keep it from reinstalling on my machine? This is the fifth or sixth time I had to rename etd.sys

Windows 10 issue - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ETD.sys)

Hi,

Just got a new laptop with Windows 10 installed and I keep getting the BSOD - DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ETD.sys)

It seems that it's an issue with the ELAN touchpad driver. I've updated using the driver disc and also downloaded from the manufacturers website but I'm still getting the BSOD.

Any suggestions?

Are you running any software that cleans up your hard drive, like CCleaner? If so stop using it until this is resolved as it's deleting the mini dump files, or change it's settings (if CCleaner) so it doesn't delete them.

The dump points to ETD.sys as you mentioned, This belongs to ELAN PS/2 Port Smart Pad Driver.
It's fairly old and needs to be updated: Mon Sep 22 23:20:59 2014

There is an updated Win 10 driver on the manufacturers web site:

I had updated to the latest drivers and still had the same problem. I've deleted the drivers altogether and stopped it from auto updating. So far so good.

 

SO you are running with the default Windows driver? Not optimal but if it works stay with it.
