Windows 10: BSOD Genshin and Riot Games

Hi, I've had Riot Games and Genshin Impact on my PC and started getting game crashes and BSOD. I've tried reinstalling programs and resetting windows. I've only had these issues recently with no updates or new programs. I haven't had any issues with games before. BSOD - Riot Games Vanguard Anti Cheat program

It's been a few days since I've been getting the BSOD either a "SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" or "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED" with the error pointing to "vgk.sys" which after few Google searches I found out it was Riot Games Anti Cheat program - Vanguard. I have a gaming laptop ROG Strix G16 with a 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13980HX, NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070, 16GB RAM, and a 64x bit OS. Before the first BSOD, I hadn't touched League of Legends ( the only Riot game I play ) for roughly 5 days and had no problems. The problems started appearing after I updated some of my drivers: GPU, network adapter, and Bluetooth driver, and also updated my Windows with a Cumulative Update Version 23H2 (KB5037853). I eventually tried to roll back those driver updates and the Windows update but to no avail and reinstalled the game and Vanguard but the BSOD persisted. After uninstalling the Vanguard program the BSOD stopped and everything was back to normal. I also performed the memory test, sfc/scannow, and chkdisk with one file being repaired. As of now I'm on the older drivers and have no idea what other driver or what issue could've caused it.

BSOD Starting Genshin Impact

Hey! I have been playin Genshin Impact since July, I left the game for a while, and when I tried to play again, my PC throws BSOD with the code: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

It happens just with Genshin, all other apps and games are going well.

I tried updating drivers and checking memory and stuff and all is fine, I don't know what to do, please help, I read about ntoskrnl.exe, but idk what to do with that info.

I start the game and when I try to log in, it throws BSOD.

Please, I need a solution for this, anything works, I wait for your answer. Thank you!

You can try these steps:

go to the Genshin Impact installation folder (Local Disk > Program Files > Genshin Impact), find the file "launcher.exe", right click on it and choose "Run as administrator".

Another alternative for the update and resource errors is to run the Genshin Impact executable directly, without going through the game launcher. To do this, go to the game's installation folder (Local Disk > Program Files > Genshin Impact), open the folder "Genshin Impact Game" and run the .exe "GenshinImpact" with two clicks.

Compatibility issues with Microsoft's operating system can prevent Genshin from opening, as well as closing it unexpectedly while the game is running. If these problems manifest themselves, use Windows compatibility mode to run the game in Windows 7 mode.

To do this, right click on the Genshin Impact executable, select "Properties", go to the "Compatibility" tab, check the "Run this program in compatibility mode" box and select Windows 7. Now, just click " Apply" and try again.
