BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL when waking from Hibernate

Thanks for all the help. HP have been working on the machine and told me to do a fresh install of Windows.

I am not happy about this as repair has not been tried, but they've deleted windows and installed ubuntu. Now I have to install Windows.

The Windows install was difficult because various stuff had incorrect settings, but it is now installed and up to date.

I now have to re-install all my software which is about 40 applications. More waste of time.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Your welcome.
Please report into the thread the steps that HP had you perform.
Was the Ubuntu step to test the hardware and differentiate Windows problems from hardware problems?
    Did Ubuntu work smoothly?
Was the Ubuntu run from a flash drive or was it installed onto a drive partition.
Did Windows continue to have problems with a normally working Ubuntu?
Did all of the HP UEFI diagnostics pass?
You can post a DM zip and we can review the logs now and then once you have installed all updated drivers and applications.

HP had me send them much the same information as I sent here. I collected it myself rather than a program doing it. It showed corrupt memory.

They replaced the motherboard with memory. The fault still happened.

I knew it would as the corrupt memory was not present when I first started testing things, so although it became corrupt later, it was a red herring.

Because the fault still happened HP sent an engineer to fit another motherboard in case the first replacement was faulty.

(I wanted them to look at system stuff again now the memory issue was cleared, but they wouldn't and sent the engineer).

However the engineer did not fit it. Instead he installed ubuntu to the machine (from a flash drive) to see if that ran ok. It did. Also it meant I could still use the machine. I no longer had access to Windows. I think he wiped windows. I had an iso image on the hard drive which we could have copied out to a flash drive, but that didn't happen. All HP UEFI diagnostics passed as far as I know.

So, long story, I had to do the fresh windows install. They sent me two DVDs for installation. The laptop does not have a DVD drive. They must know that obviously. In fact it was a USB drive that was ordered. I queried this and was told they don't do USB for this model. I think they are nuts, I got messed around, and they failed to resolve the problem.

Furthermore. I had the second disc in the DVD drive (connected via USB) and was in Windows Explorer. I had the setup .exe file highlighted. By mistake (I have bad hand tremors) I clicked a key by mistake, one of the alphabetic keys, and everything on the DVD was deleted. Unbelievable. So now I am waiting (and hoping) they will send another DVD replacement.

The engineer wants me to check the windows stop code does not occur with the fresh installation, to make sure it is not a hardware fault. HP called me today to close the case, I said no, as I am nowhere near proving anything as need the second DVD for drivers etc., then need to update drivers - then need to re-install my software, about 40 applications. Only if the machine does not fail after all that will I be happy for them to close the case.

It's been the usual farce of trying to get past first line support all the time.

I will post the new evidence when all installed. Don't hold your breath!

    Thanks

As I said, they sent a Windows DVD which I installed.

It's just the second DVD they sent which lost its data - Applications and Drivers - in fact losing files was after I did the drivers install and the recommended programs install, it's only the "select programs you'd like to install" left to do so it is not a disaster at present. It would be if I ever needed to use the DVD again. So asked for replacement.

I'll see if there's anything on the Microsoft site.

HP should have all drivers and apps available on their support page for your laptop. There shouldn't be a need for a DVD.

Yes, they have a drivers page for my machine.

They also have an update drivers utility which does it all for you.

    Not the applications though.

    They are sending another DVD.

BSOD IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL when waking from Hibernate

I now have a fresh install of windows, have all my data files back and am about half-way through re-installing all my software.

It's all taken so long and I think HP hindered it rather than helping. eg. they never tried a repair. etc.

I still have to check for driver updates, but aim to use the HP utility for that

    Thanks for all the help.

    Which hardware was changed?
    Same or different model motherboard?
    Same RAM?
Which AV are you planning to install?
Once you have installed all of the HP drivers using the SoftPaq download manager please post a new zip:
