BSOD Kernel Security Check Failure consistently caused by Photoshop...

Hey, I'm having the same problem while using Premiere Pro. I just got my new xps 15 last week and I was using Premiere on an Inspiron 17 without any problems. However, I tried to change the grafic gpu to nvidea and it was working fine for like 2 minutes, then I got the BSOD again. Photoshop and Lightroom dont seem to have the problem..

  2. It's nice to read that this is an extended problem. I wish this is just a driver's issue.

  3. Dear All,

Initially I felt very relieved that there is a quick solution to this problem. I have done all step by step according to your suggestion to switch the graphic processor. Nevertheless the BSOD continues to appear when I try to run Photoshop CC2015. *cry*cry*cry

I have extracted the required information from my system in the attached file. I would be very glad if somebody can assist with this. Thanks in advance *Smile

Well, I just had the same thing on a brand new laptop with OEM Home Edition! Both photoshop and audition CC2015, so I suspect any adobe product will be the same...
Did the GPU switch thing from Default (Integrated) to Nvidia, opened for a sec, then BOOM... BSOD
Then, to my frustration, got out my Windows 8.1 DVD and rolled back to it (it's a windows 10 thing, right? wrong) BSOD! Since my laptop is new and there aren't any drivers for 8.1 for it on ASUS' website, I used driver navigator... so all those who say it's a driver thing, well... it's up to date.

What on earth is going on? All adobe's products... Windows 10, Windows 8.1, old drivers, new drivers... damn BSOD everytime!

That, and something is taking control of my windows permissions, but that's another story. It's been hell since I got that damn laptop!

    Hi @alvassilev,

My reply is to you only and nobody else.
Shortly, you need to clean install your Windows in order to get help per the forum rules.

Troubleshooting a counterfeit installation is useless as it is not known what has been modified to your system.
A counterfeit installation contains heavily modified code which causes the system to behave in unexpected ways.
For this reason, analyzing counterfeit systems is unreliable and most analysts won't try it.
I recommend to install a genuine copy of Windows.
If, after you have installed a genuine copy of Windows, you still get BSOD's we'll be happy to assist you.

    Hi all,

It seems that the problem is from latest Nvidia Drivers 10.18.13.6143 a lot of people are having this issue as i saw in Nvidia Forums. So, i rollback to 359.06 Nvidia Drivers and never had another BSOD yet.

BSOD Kernel Security Check Failure consistently caused by Photoshop...

I wasn't sure if this should get its own thread or not. I've had the kernel security check failure twice today, and the only clue I have is that the first time happened when I tried to open Photoshop and the second time happened while it was open.

NVIDIA has posted a Hotfix driver that seems to fix the issue for most people: GeForce HotFix driver 361.60

    Changelog:
    • Crashes in Photoshop & Illustrator
    • Install & clocking related issues

  10. Nice to hear it. At least we know it's nVIDIA's problem.

It's a coincidence that when my laptop got messed up mysteriously some weeks ago, I formatted it, installed everything again, and suddenly this happens, crazy BSOD's. That made me questioning if the laptop was dying, damn.

Why all the problems have to happen at the same time!!??

This is the original nVIDIA link, posted 5 days ago:
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...driver-361-60/

It has the same link DennisA put.

I had Windows 10 preinstalled, updated ALL my drivers from Asus' website, still BSOD. So I went ahead and installed Windows 8.1 thinking it's a W10 thing, had a hard time finding drivers for 8.1, but got them using Driver Navigator... Still BSOD. Safe to say now that having all the drivers or updating them got nothing to do with the BSODs.

For me it crashed and gave Kernel_Security_Check_Failure whenever I used an adobe or graphics app... On1 Perfect Photo, Photoshop, Audition, etc... even when running with the Integrated GPU or High Performance Nvidia

Does it crash and give the same error to everyone when starting a graphics app or is it different?

I'll update Nvidia with the latest hotfix 361.60 and update my reply

    Update: 25 January 2016
So far so good, but haven't tried everything yet. If this post isn't updated again, it means no issues are found.

    Thanks! That did it!
Handbrake was also not working - it would crash on file open.
Tried updating Handbrake, chkdsk, etc . This hotfix did it.

Yes it does fix the issue. They said so in their change-log for the driver:
    http://us.download.nvidia.com/Window...ease-notes.pdf

Had this issue occurring with me as well (crash while using photoshop), and I had downgraded my graphics card driver to version 359.06
(I also had BSOD's on boot sometimes, and the downgrade helped that too)

So this was definitely a driver problem. Glad it wasn't hardware related *Smile
