    Hello Ladies & Gents!

I'm a SevenForums member, DreadStar/DreadStarX! It's been a long time since I've been on here, and found that SF/EF/TF is one of the best resources for OS Problems.

    So, here's the problem.

When I boot up VMWare Workstation, and attempt to install a Ubuntu 15.xx 32bit/64bit, it bluescreens after about 5 minutes. I thought at first it was because of my Dual GFX Cards, but that wasn't the case. I have plenty of memory/hdd/gfx memory.

I've uploaded my BSOD Report from the nifty tool z3r0 posted.

    Download then run the
    AVG
    and
    Kaspersky
removal tool if both were installed. And if both have been uninstalled.

    If you havent yet

  3. Machine_check_exception BSOD

Driver verifier came back with errors from kl1.sys. A Kaspersky related driver.

I always assumed it was hardware related. How do I go about repairing that troublesome driver? A clean uninstall/reinstall of Kaspersky?

    Hi BinaryData,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

The intel processor driver is causing the crashes.
Please check your manufacturer, MSI, for driver updates.

A 0x9C(machine_check_exception) is similar to a 0x124(WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR), meaning both are usually caused by hardware problems (hardware, drivers, dust, loosy components etc.). A lot can't be (properly) checked with a laptop, like loosy components, dust, broken cables etc., so for now we just skip them and try the possible onces as one of the last options.

I suggest to test the CPU.

  11. Seems as if it wasn't a drivers problem, but a BIOS problem. I did a driver update on everything, no suffice. I did a BIOS Flash, and no more BSOD. I'll monitor it for the next few weeks, and go from there.

I will mark your post "Solved", once I'm 100% sure this is the cause.

On a side note, knowing how to read BSODs can be handy, who did you learn from or is there a tutorial?

I started learning it by myself, sometimes I get support from some amazing people when I ask for it, but I have mainly done it all myself.
