Windows 10: BSOD missing/corrupted pci.sys driver

    BSOD missing/corrupted pci.sys driver


    So I restarted my computer and got this error message that my driver pci.sys was missing or contained an error. I do have a system image file (2 days old) on an external drive and a recovery disk on CD (from November.) I tried repairing, but it didn't work. System restore didn't work. Sfc scannow and chdsk from Command Prompt didn't work (or didn't let me, to be more accurate.) This had no warning as I had restarted the computer just hours earlier.

    First BSOD - Kernel Data Inpage Error (upon restart) Second BSOD - 0xc000000f (on reboot) Third BSOD - 0xc0000242 (after failed recovery reboot)

    Now, System Image Recovery states everything will be replaced on the drive. Here's the thing - if I go with this option and I still can't boot, what is my next course of action, and can my hard drive still be accessible to recover my files which haven't been backed up?
