  1. BSOD on boot after upgrade from Windows 7

After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro i get various BSOD on boot. usually i need 2-4 attempts to boot into login mask. very rarely i have a BSOD some seconds after login. power on after sleep or hibernate works well, so this problem occurs after windows updates. within windows 7 i never saw any blue screens, so i expect hardware is fine.

the system is a desktop pc with an intel DH67BL board and an i5-2500 cpu (2nd gen), a few years old. as intel has left the mainboard business and the board is out of warranty, driver support is bad.

    can anybody help?

    :)

  2. BSOD after upgrade to windows 10

After upgrading Win 7 to Windows 10 my PC endswith BSOD every time it boots up.

If I let it finish the boot without logging in, it BSODs at the end of the boot.

If I log in as soon as I am able to, it BSODs at the end of the boot/login.

Maybe one of the last services loaded is cause of the BSOD?

I can boot to safe mode with no problems,

and in the Windows system log I see lots of faults under the latest normal boot sequence.

What do I do to narrow down the problem?

  3. Sony Vaio strongly recommend for not upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29!!!!!

I've upgraded my old Vaio VGN-FZ470E now.

It was running windows 7 and I did the upgrade directly from the update.

At the end I've got a BSOD... BSOD on boot after upgrade from Windows 7 :(

Then I boot it with low resolution and it worked. I did all the updates and installed the latest drive from NVIDEA.

After a new boot no more issues.

Like a new from the store, Cortana and all features running nicely.

    Good luck for the braves!

BSOD on boot after upgrade from Windows 7

    Hi verleihnixx,

    Welcome to the 10forums.

As this is an upgrade, it is highly recommended to backup your files and clean install windows 10.
With an upgrade several problems are coming to your way, with a clean install you avoid them.

  5. axe0,

yes, this can be a solution. but this system was used productive for years, so it means a lot of installing and customizing for me. so a solution, that saves two days of work, would be highly appreciated.

I have looked a little at the crash dumps and there are multiple causes.
It would take a while, if it is possible, to solve the crashes.

The first step, if you haven't, is backup your data.

  9. axe,

    thank you for your assistance!

testing the harddisk gave no results but testing the memory brought up errors. see attachment. a repeated test gave errors at the same position. so i expected memory to be the cause.

so i bought new memory but unfortunately the problem persist. with new memory on bank 0 or 1 i see the same bluescreens. any idea how to solve this? my last idea would be to replace the mainboard. any other possible reasons?

    best regards

If you have tested each stick in each slot separately from the other sticks and noted the results you know if a slot is faulty or a stick.

  11. axe0,
there isn't a problem witth the sticks. completely new memory brings up the same bluescreens at boot.

    ok,

two old sticks in bank 0 - bluescreen
two new sticks in bank 1 - bluescreen

    any explanation for that behavior?

    best regards

That isn't properly testing, or can't you use a single stick?
Please try as following (if possible)
    Stick 1 in bank 0,
    Stick 2 in bank 0,
    Stick 1 in bank 1,
    Stick 2 in bank 1.
