Windows 10: BSOD on restart and PC shuts down when it's supposed to go to sleep

Hey everyone,

I have lately been having a couple of minor problems on my PC:


1) Whenever I try to restart my PC, I encounter the BSOD "System thread exception not handled." I have looked for help online already, but the suggestions of making sure all my device drivers are up to date and running a system file check haven't fixed the problem. The PC does ultimately boot back up normally. I do not have this problem if I choose to shut down the computer.

2) Whenever I tell my PC to sleep, it shuts down instead. In other words, it will go through the motions of going to sleep, but the power LED doesn't flash when it shuts off (it always did before when asleep) and pressing the power button starts the computer normally as though it was off (I see the BIOS splash screen and then Windows opens, whereas the PC normally opens immediately on the Windows log in screen when asleep).


Neither of these problems are causing me any other problems yet, but they are irritating. I mainly don't want the problems to get worse since whenever the PC has to restart for an update, it also encounters the BSOD mentioned above and then appears to continue the update normally when the computer restarts.


Any help would be appreciated.

Random shut down and restart??

Computer: Intel (R) Pentium (R) Dual cpu
E220@2.406hz
2.42 GHZ, 2.00 GB of RAM
Windows xp

Ever since I replaced the fan (with heat sink) the computer has randomly shut down and then restarted, at first during streaming, and now, will shut down and restart anytime. I tried to replace the graphics card to no avail. *Confused *Mad

One suggestion was to replace the RAM.

Any suggestions on how to repair my computer?
