BSOD Only when in sleep mode

Greetings, I am experiencing some issues with my new PC Build. (PC Information in my profile and in the zip file)

    Motherboard - ASUS Z170-A
    Processor - Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80662I76700K

This may sound strange however, for the most part the PC runs fine, I can play games, I can stress test the heck out of it, everything I throw at this rig it chews it up.

The problem occurs when the pc goes into sleep mode. If the Pc goes into sleep mode and something wakes it up, the machine Blue Screens.

Troubleshooting Steps I've taken to try to resolve the issue.

    Ordered a duplicate motherboard
    Swapped the motherboard out
Updated the bios to the latest on both motherboards
Updated the firmware on all devices
Updated the Nvidia drivers for the video card
Disabled Fast boot in the bios
    Disabled fast boot in windows
Disabled fast boot in bios and left fast boot enabled in windows
Disabled fast boot in windows and disabled it in the bios
    Motherboard is not overclocked

As a last ditch effort I went through the manual and looked at the supported memory.

    Current Memory = HyperX FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Desktop Memory Model HX421C14FBK2/16

    Ordered Memory to troubleshoot = Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit for DDR4 Systems 2400 MT/s (CMK16GX4M2B3000C15B)

Hoping the Processor isn't the issue.

I am also considering returning the Asus motherboard and going with this one - Gigabyte LGA 1151 Z170 2-Way SLI UEFI DualBIOS ATX DDR4 ATX DDR4 NA Motherboards GA-Z170XP-SLI

Thanks in advance for any assistance, I really appreciate it as I am stumped.

    :)

  2. Video TDR Failure what failed atikpag.sys

Per your suggestion, I uninstalled the Video driver, and attempted to uninstall the AMD Catalyst, but wasn't allowed to do so. I click the repair button. Because the software was supported up to Windows 8, there is no driver update available.

I also noticed that I receive the BSOD only when my PC is coming out of sleep mode. There is No BSOD error message when simply restarting.

When I put my PC into sleep mode and attempt to start it back up, I am still receiving the BSOD with the VTR error message, even after I attempted your suggestions.

  3. WIndows 10 - Wake from Sleep Issues

I am also experiencing BSOD on wake. I tried a clean boot and it made no difference, still experiencing the BSOD on wake from sleep. The only solution that I found was to not allow sleep mode, however, this is not a fix. I have re-installed Windows 7 and will
try again in a few more months as this is completely unacceptable.

BSOD Only when in sleep mode

    Hi Lunchbox,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

The 0x9F crash means that a driver improperly changed its power state or did not change the power state at all.
I have analyzed some dumps and it is notable that there are many different drivers causing problems in all those dumps, there is almost not a single one re-occuring at least a few times.
This makes that I do not believe this is a driver issue, so many different drivers is impossible as the root cause unless there is something seriously wrong.
As a standard thing I take a look at the partitioning and the hard drives and there is something interesting to see, the Samsung SSD 850 EVO. This SSD may be very good, but it is known for causing problems with the power options.
There are a few options we could try to resolve this problem, but if none works then I recommend that you do not use sleep mode anymore.
First ensure that the firmware of your SSD is up to date, you can check it with Samsung Magician
Second, please remove the ASUS software, ASUS software is known for causing BSODs and has been flagged in either of the dumps.
