Windows 10: BSOD only when launching ONE GAME, Driver updates not solving issue.

I am an avid gamer, and play lots of games on my pc. I have good specs, and it handles high end games with ease. HOWEVER, whenever I try to launch Fortnite, it almost immediately crashes my computer and gives various errors. So far I have tried:Reinstalling WindowsUpdating all of my drivers. And I mean ALLChecking my RAM with the Windows Memory Diagnosticsfc /scannowChecking Fortnite's files and repairing them.I have a few minidump files from crashes. Not sure how I could share them here but I would love to. I have analyzed them and seen that the problem is with ntoskrnl.exeI have no clue how

Launching games

Windows 10 is gamer-friendly by design. If an issue like being unable to launch a game happens, it can be caused by outdated display driver or other factors that cause conflict when launching the app. For us to better assist you, we'd like to ask for additional

• What build and version of Windows 10 are you using?
• Are you getting an error message when launching the game?
• Have you made any changes to the settings or installed updates prior to this issue?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
• What specific games are you having issues with?

BSOD- atikmpag.sys

This is most likely due to an installation/upgrade error with ATI driver's. I suggest doing DriveSweeper and the following:

• Drivesweeper all drivers & in Safe Mode
• Unistall all drivers that aren't used in DriveSweeper (CCC Profiler Updates, MSI AfterBurner, anything related to ATI that use's it's drivers.)
• After you do this, the first thing you need to do is go into Device Manager and Unistall your ATI Drivers

Once your done, restart the PC and then try installing the latest drivers.


I had several issues with this in the past, but I overcame it with logical reasoning and whenever I have a driver issue, I just use these steps and I always overcome the problem.

BSOD When playing games

• Does the BSOD occur while playing a particular game?
• Is the game downloaded from Windows Store?

I suggest you to update the Graphic Card drivers by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key + X, select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update.
