  1. BSOD or just frozen screen, then reboot after 2h22 update

Hi, been struggling with this a few days. Ive done a full system restore off a cloud image of windows. I cant revert back to a previous image, the option isnt there. Ive tried multiple things and none of them are working. Everytime I play a game, the game will hang, frozen screen, then either just reboot or give me a bsod. The computer if under a year old, and this only started after the 2h22 update. It was fine before it. Any and all help is appreciated.link to the log online:https://1drv.ms/u/s!AhAiRgPIs7jDkTwbJMsi4wh-pzuX?e=iFrG8e

    BSOD 2H22 upgrade

Looking at other recent posts I am having a similar problem. I have tried this three times. The first used a pre-release version of 2H22 which took a very long time to install and then I got the BSOD screens mentioning kernel problems. I went back to the prior version without problem. I tried again with the release version and tried a clean install but got into a mess with having the install end up offering me to load Windows 11 or Windows 10. So I used Acronis to go back to a working version. Last night, when the 2H22 version poped up in Windows Update, I tried the upgrade route.

One thing I noticed as I was going through this whole series of botched installs was that the normal spinning dots as Windows loads were replaced by curved segments about 1/4 circle that were spinning. When I went back to the prior version, the normal spinning dots.

I have updated bios and chipset and I provide the minidump file. I am back to 21H2. This is the minidump file link:

Where do I go from here?

    2H22 fiasco

I tried installing the 2H22 upgrade a month ago from the preview site. Very prolonged install and after kept getting crashes requiring reboots. I finally just unstalled the update and things returned to baseline. As the final version of 2H22 is available I tried to do a clean install but in spite of deleting partitions on the C: drive, installation apprently went to another NVME drive and the end result was blue screens as well as a requirement that I pick either Windows 11 or Window 10. I ended up with two boot drives. With that mess I disconnected the second NVME and SSD and used Acronis to restore the C: drive. Then reconnected the other drives, deleted the partition on the second NVME drive and reformatted. Finally restored files to that drive. I had no problem installing Windows 11 but big problems trying to install the 2H22 version. In retrospect I should have disconnected the other drives before trying the clean install. Certainly will avoid 2H22 for as long as possible. The system has a Ryzen 7 3700X processor with 32 GB RAM. Two Samsung NVME (960, 980) and a Crucial SSD.

PC reboots (no BSOD) on CPU stress

    Hi fellow TPU members,

not too long ago, the box my gf's PC was transported in gave way on the stairs. Yes, you got it right, that sent a PC tumbling down a flight of steps alright.

Stuff broke. Also, stuff remained intact somehow.

I bought her a new case, new CPU cooler and we removed the floppy drive, so far so good. But the PC started crashing for no apparent reason, without a BSOD.

    I tested:
    • Memtest86+, left overnight, 0 errors
    • Scanned the HDD for errors, nothing there
    • Left FurMark burning up the GFX card and drawing some power, no problems there
    • Ran Ubuntu from a Live CD doing nothing special, didn't crash
    • Ran OCCT, Linpack, Prime95, all 3 caused reboots within minutes
    • Oh, and I disabled "Restart on error" so I'm sure it's not a BSOD.
Now, I can still try and test something CPU intensive on Ubuntu, but my guess is the CPU didn't survive.
Before I do anything drastic like whippin' out the magic wallet and get her a new AMD quad, is there anything I didn't see?
I'm guessing the motherboard could be borkered as well, but can I check that other than replacing the CPU with a working one?
Any suggestions on which proggies I can use from an Ubuntu Live CD to stress the CPU?
