BSOD - Page fault in nonpaged area. 0x32 - no safe mode

    Hello,

I am having a problem with my desktop PC and I cannot boot to safe mode.

My girlfriend was using the computer last night, it apparently froze and whilst the mouse was still moving, she turned the power off using the button on the case. We have turned it on this morning and I get the BSOD *Shock.

She did not try Ctrl + Alt + Del, and alas, I have a computer that will now not start, and I am confined to command prompt at best.

BSOD showed error code "Page fault in nonpaged area".
    • Automatic repair did not work.
    • Continuing to windows did not work.
    • Troubleshoot > System restore; startup repair and change startup settings to launch safe mode, all did not work.
    • I do not have a system recovery image and could not go back to a previous version.

I located the Srt log file and identified through cmd that the file contains error code = 0x32 in the section "Disk metadata test".

I started to follow the instructions on this post: Windows can not start after update, here is SrtTrail.txt Solved - Windows 10 Forums - however my issue deviates in post #4 from Bozhart on the SFC output, and I now require further guidance please.
    • Sfc /Scannow /OFFBOOTDIR=C:\ /OFFWINDIR=C:\Windows = 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations'.
    • Chkdsk C: /f did find any bad sectors or problems; although it says it failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.

    Things tried so far:
    • mdsched.exe - Launched from cmd line, Windows memory diagnostic tools found no errors up to the point of finishing, but it then goes to restart, it goes to the windows logo, the loading circle goes around a few times before freezing and going back to the same BSOD.
    • chkdsk c: /f as stated above found no error although it failed to log to the event log status 50.
    • I have a USB drive with windows installed, when I boot from this, and then try to use the recovery options and target the windows 10 OS, it fails each time.

    Pictures attached.

Please can someone provide guidance on what to do next? I appreciate I am not a computer expert so might have missed a step or two.

My preference is to carry out a repair rather than reinstall if I can.

I'd be happy to repeat any processes if required.

    Many thanks.

    :)

BSOD - Page fault in nonpaged area. 0x32 - no safe mode

I have executed the following in cmd:

    Dism /image:C:\ /Get-Packages

The latest 3 packages I can see installed from manually eyeballing are as follows:
    1:

    • ID: Package_for_KB4074595~31BF3856AD364E35~AMD64~~10.0.1.0
    • State: Installed
    • Type: Security update
    • Install time: 2/7/2018 8:27am

    2:
    • ID: Package_for_KB4087256_31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~16299.245.1.0
    • State: Installed
    • Type: Update
    • Install time: 2/14/2018 8:49am

    3.
    • ID: Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~16299.248.1.17
    • State: Installed
    • Type: Security update
    • Install time: 2/14/2018 1:54pm

    The operation completed successfully.

Hopefully this shows that it is not a windows update that is the cause of this? I hope this information helps somewhat.

The PC has worked every day since these updates until today.

    Thanks.

    Hi Cherry

Please can you fill in as many details as possible about you system in the My Computerarea of your profile. Remember to include details of the power supply unit (PSU).

Can you get into the BIOS? If so check that everything is set to default and run any diagnostics if there are any.

Also you can try the recovery disk provided here. There are a number of disk testing utilities you can try and other troubleshooting options.
