To be honest I don't know. I am not around my laptop for the night. I know it had the Windows 10 sticker I believe on the front with the NVIDIA sticker. The reason I am thinking that this was upgraded before being sold (which I didn't know) was because in a few of the dump files it had "win8 not working" or something like that. When it mentioned win8 in the dump files that leads me to believe that this laptop once had windows 8.1. Am I wrong to think that based off of the dump file?

Check out if the drivers were migrated then *Smile if not, it's a clean install.

You're not wrong, someone can install any OS on it, but if the sticker says Windows 10 then Windows 10 is pre-installed.

Sorry I am kind of a novice. A clean install means what? That this laptop was built by Toshiba and Windows 10 was the only operating system loaded onto it?? Thx for humoring me lol.

Even with a clean install, there is no garantee the bluescreens will be gone.
When after a clean install the bluescreens keep occuring, it is either drivers or hardware.
With a driver it is almost always from a device like a headset.

I'm not trying to discourage any action, but this is something to keep in mind *Smile

  6. Maybe stupid question but isn't the blue windows sticker on the keyboard near the nvidia sticker? Also, so if there is a windows 10 sticker, that means that ONLY Windows 10 was installed, not an earlier version that was upgraded to Windows 10?

well, I see... I'll report back with the memtest screen & potential new BSOD dumps, which I guess are still inevitable.

Did you by any chance had the opportunity to take a peek a the new chain of BSODs I posted yesterday? If there is something, anything that can point to a device like the HDD or faulty graphics card or anything else, I'd love to know.

A clean install means that Windows will be installed again and existing data will be lost.

Not yet had the opportunity, I'll be home at around 17:30 (5:30 PM) my time. Before 7 PM (19:00) my time you can expect an answer from me about the dumps.

  11. Hey axe0, just curious - if I opened Chrome with my NVIDIA Card and within 2 minutes Chrome stopped responding and the whole computer kinda froze up and then the BSOD Driver Power State Failure appeared, what does that tell you? Als, a lot of times once it restarted if I didn't touch my laptop at all for like 8 or 9 minutes, the BSOD Driver Power State Failure happened. Weird huh for a brand new laptop? What does this sound like to you?

If you see Windows 10 on the sticker, it means Windows 10 was pre-installed.

If you see a different Windows version, it means that the Windows version that you can see on the sticker was pre-installed.

That crash isn't really very specific, it usually is caused by graphics drivers, network drivers, usb drivers or sound drivers but it can vary due to the presence of other software that is also active at the boot process.

With a brand new laptop I would return it and get a new one.
I wouldn't do any analyse on it, but it usually means hardware problems (or drivers but less chance for drivers being the cause)

  14. Then why would something about win8 be in the dump file?

Where do you see win8 exactly in the dump?
