  1. BSOD randomly when playing, browsing or watching videos

I have reached my limits trying to find the cause of this on my own, please help.

My desktop PC bluescreens randomly when I use it, sometimes multiple times per day, sometimes not for several days.
The usual BSOD error code is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

I have ran a memory test which was successful.
I suspect the gpu hardware failing but I have no real evidence.
Trying to debug the dumps myself has led to a personal deadend.

Hopefully the attached file can help you experienced people to find the specific reason of failure.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    :)

  3. "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" BSOD while watching video in browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox)

    Here are the bsod_minidumps, MSInfo32_export, Speccy_export.

It's very strange that this behaviour is random - it appears from time to time. Sometimes I watch video and there is nothing, sometimes there are several BSODs in a row. I didn't find a straight corellation between watching videos in a browser and BSODs,
but I have noticed that BSOD doesn't appear when I do all the other things (watching video in a local desktop player, playing games, working with Office, etc.).

BSOD randomly when playing, browsing or watching videos

I'm having trouble reading any of your newer dumps, all kinds of symbol file not found problems. No idea why. It's not just you though, having the same problem with others as well.

I did notice your BIOS is pretty old: V17.13 06/29/2011. There are updates available, the most recent, though not very recent, is newer than what you have and would be worth installing to see if that helps: V17.20 2012-11-27.

See here: Support For 870A-G54 | MSI USA | Motherboard - The world leader in motherboard design

I also see an audio driver update dated 2016-10-25. Try installing that as well.

See if either of these help.

Edit: You said you ran a memory test. Which one. We prever memtest86+ run for at least 8 complete passes as follows:

Follow this tutorial: MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

    Information
BSOD randomly when playing, browsing or watching videos [IMG]

MemTest86+ is a diagnostic tool designed to test Random Access Memory (RAM) for faults. MemTest86+ will verify that:

    • RAM will accept and keep random patterns of data sent to it
    • There are no errors when different parts of memory try to interact
    • There are no conflicts between memory addresses

Memtest86+ runs from bootable media to isolate the RAM from the system, no other components are taken into account during the test.

Warning MemTest86+ needs to run for at least 8 passes to be anywhere near conclusive, anything less will not give a complete analysis of the RAM.

If you are asked to run MemTest86+ by a Ten Forums member make sure you run the full 8 passes for conclusive results. If you run less than 8 passes you will be asked to run it again.

Note MemTest86+ has been known to discover errors in RAM in later passes than the eighth pass. This is for information only; if you feel there is a definite problem with the RAM and 8 passes have shown no errors feel free to continue for longer.

Running 8 passes of MemTest86+ is a long and drawn out exercise and the more RAM you have the longer it will take. It's recommended to run MemTest86+ just before you go to bed and leave it overnight.

  5. Thank you for your reply!

I installed the latest audio drivers and flashed my BIOS to the latest version. I noticed some instructions about completely uninstalling and reinstalling nvidia drivers in a similar thread so i did that too. I ran memtest86+ as you proposed over yesterday, 8 passes, no errors.

    Still, the problem persists :/

Any ideas about the symbol errors in the debugger? I had the same issue.

At this point I'm considering formatting to exclude software errors, would you recommend a different step before that?

    Thanks again.

The symbol file problem happens with a lot of dumps, not just yours. It's a Microsoft problem, nothing we can fix.

Can you run DM_Log_collector again and upload the zip file. I'd like to take a look at the latest dump just in case something shows up that could help. Otherwise a Clean Install is a good idea. Make sure you backup first.

I see you are using AVG anti-virus. Please uninstall it and run with the built-in Windows Defender and Firewall for awhile, see if that makes a difference. If it doers you can stay with Defender (that's what I use along with Malwarebytes anti-exploit and anti-malware) or try a newer version of AVG or a different program.

  9. I installed Windows 7 on a different partition than 10 and I still had a bluescreen while watching youtube.
It has to be a hardware error so guess i'll try to find which component is failing... somehow -.-

What antt-virus did you install on Windows 7? Did you try uninstalling AVG on Windows 10?

  11. None and no *Redface

Eventually I ran Prime95 alongside OpenHardwareMonitor to stress test the machine. I had errors pop up in Prime95 when the cpu temperature hit 60C and bluescreen every time it hit 63C+. So I blamed the cpu cooler and replaced that. Now the cpu is running at 50C max.

The disappointing thing is, I still got a bluescreen or two after that, even though stress testing with Prime95 takes a lot longer to show errors and did not cause a bsod yet. Any ideas?

  12. Underclocking the cpu made the problem even less scarse. At this point I am almost sure the cpu is to blame, old hardware working with a low quality cooler had its toll I suppose. Marking this as solved.

That's pretty good detective work on your part. Are you going to replace the CPU or build a new computer? Just curious.
