    BSOD "Reference by pointer" randomly

    Hello.
Recently i've been having a lot of BSODs with the message "reference_by_pointer". A different message has occured but it's mostly that one. At first i tought it had something to do with google chrome, as most of the times i would be opening or closing chrome at the exact moment of the BSOD, but that might have been coincidence as it also occured while playing overwatch a few times.
I have ran the windows memory test and it said there were no errors found, so i guess my ram shouldn't be the issue.
Ive been having the BSODs a while now, but now it has come to the point that it at least happens once every day to the point that it's driving me insane.
I have added the zip with the dmp log, hopefully any of you guys can see what the problem might be.
    Thanks in advance!

    :)

  2. BSOD "Reference By Pointer" - Minidump File

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern, can you provide us the specification of the computer?

Sometimes new hardware can cause blue screen errors. If you recently added new hardware to your PC, shut down your PC, unplug the new hardware, and then restart your PC. Many blue screen errors can be resolved by making sure that Windows is up to date.
In the search box on the taskbar, enter Windows Update, select
    Windows Update
. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates.

    Troubleshoot blue screen errors

Let us know how it goes, we’ll be glad to assist you.

BSOD "Reference By Pointer" - Minidump File

Hello, I recently built a new PC (with the exception of an older GPU which I kept from my older machine). It's run pretty smoothly for the first couple weeks, but recently gave a BSOD with the error "Reference By Pointer".

    I found
    this thread
which talked about potential memory issues, so I ran the Windows 10 Memory Diagnostics Tool and it found no errors. That same thread had a lot of people suggesting the OP upload the minidump file, so I did that too.

You can download the minidump file here.

Here's my Dxdiag as well, in case that helps.

A few of my PC parts can only be returned for another week or so, so any information you could provide to help me track down if any parts are busted and should be returned would be really appreciated.

Thanks, and let me know if I can provide any other info to help.

2 dumpfiles blames networx.sys . Please update or remove.

1 dumpfiles is machine check exception.
WHEA error for a MCE fault
This could point to hardware problem with your CPU but more often also motherboard software and monitoring software can cause this kind of BSODs.
    Update or remove
    Speedfan and Hardwareinfo
And the Asus Utilities you are using.

    The other dumpfiles are all
    Code: BugCheck 18, {0, ffffe706edce6dd0, 2, ffffffffffffffff} Probably caused by : afd.sys ( afd!AfdFreeEndpointResources+6e0b )[/quote] Driver Description: Ancillary Function Driver for WinSock
    Driver Update Site: Windows Update
    This is network related

Your softether vpn software is from 2015

Also your logitech software is from 2012

    Update your malware bytes program.

    Thanks allot lifetec!!
will try to update the programs and remove if necessary.
Can these programs also cause problems if they are not running? Because i almost never have speedfan or hardwareinfo running, i just occasionally open them to monitor some stuff.
I do also have my cpu overclocked, it has been running stable like this for years tho. But if BSODs still persist i'll also remove the overclock
