Windows 10: BSOD seem to have lost W10 tried everything now

Tried cmd chkdsk c: /f /r /x


message says

The type of file system id NTFS.

cannot lock current drive.

volume dismounted. All open handles to this volume are now invalid.

volume label is Acer.


Stage 1. 0 bad file records processed


Stage 2. Index verification completed. Index verification completed.

0 unindexed files scanned and recovered.


Stage 3. Security descriptor verification completed. Usn journal verification completed.


Stage 4. File data verification completed.


Stage 5. Free space verification is complete. Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.

Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 50.



One techie said I needed to replace the hard drive. Never done this on an all in one Acer but seen on youtube how hard it is just to open it. I also have lost my job due to Covid-19 so cannot afford a new pc nor the repairs. Hope someone can help! Thank you in advance and will try anything.

Lost everything on W10


I lost Edge, IE11, start menu, power turn off and I guess just about everything on W10. Is there a way I can restart W10 from the beginning. thanks

 

now usingWindows 10 seem to have lost photos and one note entries from W8

I am not a fast learner so hope there is some help available...

I have begun using W10

I had two windows log ins

I seem to have lost a great deal of documents and photos from these

I assume the space ion whatever cloud is still in existence....

May I be given a step by step guide as to how to recover them please?

 

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.
