  1. BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys) when turning on laptop

    Hi there,

I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days ago. And when I shutdown and turned it on the next morning or after few hours, I straight away had BSOD after passing the bios right just after the windows logo. This has happened twice (since I just shutdown and turn on twice so far).

The error message in BSOD was "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys)".

Let me know if you guys have a solution. I have tried Windows Memory Diagnostic and found no problem.

I attach the zip file of the dump.

    Windows 10 - Computer Won't Start/Boot

Hi, my sister just upgraded her laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

However, when she tried to open/turn on her laptop, it won't start.

    Any help/suggestions?

    EDIT:

So it turned on, showed the BSOD with the system_service_exception, now it won't open again. HELP!

  4. BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys) when turning on laptop

I just had it again. Now it comes up from a hibernate. I thought it's only from a shutdown, but hibernate too. This starts to annoy me. Does anyone have an answer? I've been looking up the net but couldn't find the solution yet.

Very annoying, I know because I have the same problem. I'm starting a chat session with Microsoft. As soon as I get some answers, I'll let you know. Or you can get some support of your own: wndw.ms/wFVMd6.

  6. I did call them, and someone across the line said she will get the technical person to call me back, but no one ever did. It's been a couple days since.

If you have better luck, let me know. It's so frustrating.

On different occasion it would have another error message: "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED".

    Still not a clue.

    I've got the following

First run "sfc /scannow". This would normally indicate that there are corrupted system files.
After this you can execute the dism.exe command to cleanup the image. I've tried this with no luck.

The problem is the following: when you have performed the upgrade within 3-5 days after release, chances are big that you have downloaded a corrupted image which results in these problems.
Only solution is to revert back to windows 8.1 and perform the upgrade within a week or 2 when things get calmer. Because the servers are getting a lot of load now.

So I try to revert to windows 8 but I cant because the files needed to, are deleted. Great... opening another case for this one. Don't bother this, it's for another topic. Anyhow: answer to this question: Image is corrupted, return to windows 8.1 and try again later...

  8. BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys) when turning on laptop

I've done that but no problem found. I've also done memtest86 and chkdsk. I think today I'm going to try disabling some hardware like DVD writer to see if there's problem with the driver.

Sounds like they give you a canned response to me. Anyway, my downloaded image is definitely not corrupted because I have used the same image to upgrade 5 desktop computers at my office with no problem.

I felt like I want to have a clean install but I got too much programs and settings that I wish not to do all over again.

  9. Anyone got solution for this? I still have it on every starting up from a hibernate and a shutdown.

I've tried disabling my DVD (someone says this on other forum), but no luck, still blue screen.

If you need more data, let me know.

I've reinstalled (clean install) my system and I don't have the BSOD anymore. In my case, this was the solutions. cng.sys is a windows kernel driver, don't think you'll have to remove or disable other hardware to solve this.

This component is missing or corrupt. have you tried using DISM commands? You can also try booting with a windows 10 (or even 8.1 or 7) DVD and try startup repair (I haven't tried this before).

    Hope you'll find it!

  11. I really wish not to do that because I got so many programs, settings, and stuff installed in this computer.

I just tried that and no problem found.

Hate it as I may, I think there's no other way beside reinstalling at this point (which I think is not really a solution but just ignoring a problem).

  12. UPDATE:

The BSOD still happen even after I did a clean install. Either SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys) or KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.

So far I have : (beside doing sfc /scannow, chkdsk, memory diagnostic, download a new copy of Win10 Pro)
    - reset PC - still have this issue
    - clean install - have bsod issue + other weird probs like fonts in many websites become bold and italic, some become narrow ([Fix] Bold and Italic Font Problem in Windows - AskVG > something like that but the solution there doesn't fix it and only happen on some websites like facebook, microsoft website and on program like moneydance)
    - upgrade from Win10 to Win10 (keep files and settings) - same thing
    - format > clean install again > install my essentials - same bsod + Windows Search was broken, but this is fixed after following instructions from error - Windows/Cortana Search - Page 2 - Windows 10 Forums

Still have this issue on every of those steps.

I'm sure it has to do with driver issue. May be the drivers that are automatically updated by Windows Update is defective. But how do I narrow down which driver is causing this issue? Any clue?

    My last attempt was:
Format > Clean Install > Let Windows Update run while Installing my essential programs like macrium reflect, dropbox, evernote, photoshop, office, malwarebytes, filezilla, etc.

It doesn't give me BSOD from a shutdown but for every wake from a Hibernate.

I'm sure Windows 10 is trolling me, it's giving me weird problems on every clean install.

BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (cng.sys) when turning on laptop

Please use the tool again and upload a new zip file.
What commands with chkdsk did you use?
I assume you have used the windows memory diagnostics?

  14. Yes, Windows Memory Diagnostic is done. That was among the first few I did when I find this issue.

Attached is the new bsod file.

If you're using a program like Ccleaner, please stop it while troubleshooting.
This because these programs delete the dump files that we use to debug.
