    BSOD, Unrecognized M.2 Boot drive.

I, was playing a video game when suddenly my PC crashed, after a few crashes i saw that the BSOD would say WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR. After a few crashes later, i was SLUMPED, i had no idea what was going on, so i spent $130 for a computer store to look at it, said he reverted some video graphics drivers and said it was good. I took the PC home tried to play some games and boom it happened again! This time was worse, when it crashed, and restarted, it sent me straight to my BIOS screen where my M.2 was not being recognized. Took it back to the guy, and it booted right back up! I was flabbergast

    :)

Boot from an old M.2 SSD Windows 11 drive

I had a Dell XPS 8940 with a 512GB M.2 SSD and my boot drive and a 1TB data drive. The Dell 8940 XPS became inoperable after a power blackout. I bought a new Dell 8960 XPS with a 1TB M.2 SSD and my boot drive and a 1TB data drive. I moved the old 512GB M.2 SSD and my boot drive and old 1TB data drive to the new Dell 8960 XPS. I'd like to access my software from the old 512GB M.2 SSD but do not have the activation/product key for some of the software. I tried boot off the old 512GB M.2 SSD so I can use my old software but I get BSOD Inaccessible Drive. How can I boot off the old 512GB M.2 SSD using the new Dell 8960 XPS? Both M.2 SSD are installed in the Dell 8960 XPS.

old (empty) M.2 drive is still the boot drive

I have an old m.2 drive that was my boot drive with windows installed on it. It's now empty and windows was installed on another drive (SSD). But somehow the original m.2 is considered the boot drive. I cannot select the SSD in the BIOS as the new boot drive. I want to physically remove the M.2 drive from my PC, but it breaks windows if I remove it. Is there a way to make the SSD the boot drive (without reformatting)?

    Thank you

    BSOD, Unrecognized M.2 Boot drive.

Struggling to Install Windows to an M.2 Drive

    • MOBO: MSI B550M PRO-VDH WIFI
    • CPU: 5600X
    • RAM: 16GB 3600MHZ DDR4
    • GPU: PALIT 980
    • BIOS VERSION: E7C95AMS.2D0
    • M.2 DRIVE: Crucial P3 Plus 2TB
    • OTHER DRIVES: None
I am currently trying to install windows on my MIL's new m.2 drive in her desktop PC.

When in UEFI mode the bios does not recognise the M.2 as a boot device. It will let me install windows to it, just not boot to it. As soon as the installation reaches the restart stage it reboots the PC back to the boot drive asking if I want to install windows again.

In CSM/Legacy mode the drive is recognised as a boot device but windows will not install to it, stating that the hardware isn't supported.

I am sure I am missing something simple, any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!
