BSOD using Google Chrome Browser 64bit 60.0.3112.24 Beta

The event logs may display crash dump failed if they were never created.
Alternatively they can be accidentally deleted by using disk cleanup.
And then there is Ccleaner which also has a box to check or un-check for the dump files.
The windows error reporting can display some information about the dumps even if they were accidentally deleted.
If there are any more bsod you can post a DM zip and we'll troubleshoot the logs: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

Thanks zbook for your help like usual! Early this morning, the laptop computer while plugged into the AC completely turned off meaning even the battery/charging light is off and I couldn't turn it on until I pulled battery and unplugged the ac adapter for 10-20 minutes. What was interesting is while the battery shows 95% full, I unplugged the ac adapter so it drains except at 92% of so, the computer just completely turned off which I was able to reproduce a time as it did this about a minute after I unplugged the AC Adapter in windows. I tried booting with just the battery and basically what happened is that it was in the booting process in windows and basically the entire system turned off completely so it seems the battery is basically dying so I wonder if all these BSOD's are actually caused because when a certain type of load is present, it depends on the battery and just causes a BSOD.

The "My Computer" section does not yet have information on the notebook.
Please update the computer specs to include both computers.

What section and event ID should I be looking at in the event logs? The crash dump should have been created as it did the long waiting to write minidump at the BSOD screen that went from 10% to 100% that took a few minutes and it was something about pool caller.

I don't use disk cleanup and don't have it on automatic.

I do use CCLeaner and have both Memory Dumps and Windows Log Files checked under system but I run CCleaner's cleaner manually and haven't done anything for atleast a month so it shouldn't have erased anything within the past few days.

Please post a new DM log collector: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

The logs often indicate whether or not there was a failure in dump file creation.

HP has on board UEFI diagnostics to check all computer hardware.

What if anything does Asus have?

    zbook,

I'll post the BSOD dump the next time there is a BSOD.

Not sure what ASUS has and if they did have anything, it would be obsolete anyways as the notebook has been in use since January 2012 with the battery being the same age and the machine had been 24/7/365 on AC 99% of the time so the battery is failing as they don't last this long. Even Windows built in stats for battery seems to think the battery still has 97% capacity. The problem is finding a replacement battery as it seems only third party is available and a majority of them have bad reviews, either it not lasting more than a month and it having a shorter runtime even though the capacity is supposedly the same.

Thanks OldMike65, seems like it tests other things but not the battery.

BSOD using Google Chrome Browser 64bit 60.0.3112.24 Beta

System was lagging and freezing as it seems I was out of resources since even a disconnect and reconnect to the Wireless LAN took a few minutes and then I got the BSOD. the DM Log collector like usual doesn't seem to play well with Norton Security as either the .exe will get deleted upon downloading or even if I exclude it, it seems to either kill or delete some of the things created by the DM Log collector so the archive file has nothing in it. So I had to first kill nsbu.exe processes in Process Hacker like usual before running the DM Log Collector and kill the nsbu.exe processes if it runs on its own while DM Log Collector is running to generate the files successfully. Except this time, even with nsbu.exe not running, I got the following error and DM Log Collector claimed completed everything successfully except the resulting zip file is empty at 0 bytes with no files in it.

Try choosing "Suspend" instead of terminating nsbu.exe in Process Hacker, this may help you avoid having to constantly check if it has started up again. Regarding this missing file error, would you be willing to use process monitor to see what's going on with msinfo32?

Thanks for the pointer with nsbu.exe, never knew what suspend really does but I usually am at the keyboard and usually will know when nsbu starts up as the icon is in the system tray when that happens. I would be willing to use process monitor but let me know what I need to do exactly. Thanks!

Start process monitor, reset the filter and have it start recording events. Run the log collector, when the error box comes up saying "an unnamed file was not found" select the crosshair icon in process monitor and drag it to the error box. This should now filter events only for msinfo32.exe.

Stop recording events (Ctrl + E), then File -> Save -> Events displayed using current filter -> Save it, zip it, upload it.

If you'd like to read about it Microsoft has some documentation on it.

Process hacker implements this via NtSuspendProcess. Source

I'll give Process Monitor a shot after this message
and post a little later. I actually ran the DM Log Collector and this time, msinfo did not complain at all but even after the posted screenshot, the resulting zip is just a empty file that is 0 bytes in size.

Actually just re-read your last comment and since msinfo no longer complains with an error, Process Monitor on msinfo will not be useful. Now have to find out what is causing the DM Log Collector to produce empty zip files.

I rebooted and while Process Hacker can terminate nsbu.exe, suspending resulted in access denied. It seems DM Log Collector is creating a empty zip file. The files were there in the TF* folder that was in last DM Log Collector sceeen which was the same as what's in post #56 before I hit any key to continue.

Still same issue as #58 with the DM Log Collector. Computer powered off yesterday twice and was over 50C where the numeric keypad is as I have the computer on top of a big cardboard box that has my audio amplifier inside for the last 5 years so the back of the computer has it's vents being blocked by the cardboard that is sinking which prevents airflow and causes it to overheat which I think might be the actual reason for the BSOD's as everytime it happens, the system is running a big load pushing the CPU to full speed and even though the battery is defective, has nothing to do with it as the thermal shutdown is without warning, it's like the computer just goes off immediately just as if the computer died, the AC Adapter would get colder on it's own but the 17.3" gaming laptop does not have any lights even for the battery charging and basically cannot even turn it on as the power button is non-responsive but 10 minutes later, everything will be fine again.
