Windows 10: BSOD: VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (nvlddmkm.sys) when waking up from sleep

I have google this and looked through dozens of threads, sites and help sites to find a solution to this problem. It seems a lot of people are experiencing this problem but I see no real fix. It seems an integrated Intel 4600 graphics adapter might have something to do with it, but I dont have one. I have my NVIDIA geforce 9800 card. No other display adapters are even listed under the device Manager. I am attaching my dump file as instructed in the posting instructions.

This problem only seems to occur after I have put my machine to sleep and come back after an extended period of time. It takes a while for the screen to come up but I instantly get the BSOD listing the VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE and (nvlddmkm.sys) with the stupid UNHAPPY Face and then it reboots the computer. It doesn't seem to happen every time and usually only after it has been put to sleep for a longer time such as an hour or more. It has never happened at any time other than after I put it to sleep.
Certainly this problem has to be resolved by now.
Here is a screen shot of my Power Options if that might be useful and the dump should also be attached.

Driver-irql-not-less-or-equal BSOD

I followed what you said and it worked for a day or two and now I have a new BSOD which says "video_tdr_failure nvlddmkm.sys" Thank you for your help and time so far.

I can confirm that this problem would occur every time I wake the computer up from sleep mode.

After a few seconds waking up from sleep mode, the computer will freeze and then BSOD occurs

Very annoying.

 

I need help with this. Just about every morning my computer has either crashed and completely rebooted or when I try to wake it up, it crashes and reboots.

 

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

• Uninstall Daemon Tools
• Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
  • Double click the executable to open it
  • Click on the button shown below

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

The crashes 0x116(VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE) are graphical related. This means the drivers of the GPU stopped responding, but Windows couldn't get the drivers to react again within a certain time amount. This could be due to dust, improper seated card, damaged card, drivers, power problem, related software, overheating, etc.
Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Nvidia. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

 

Axe0: I thank you very much for your response to my problem. I have not experienced this problem for a few days now and I think I have found something that might have been part of the problem. I have my computer set to automatically boot to the desktop without requiring a password. Somehow that setting got changed back to requiring a password. I also used to have my power settings to turn off the display after 10 minutes. I changed that to never turn it off. I was thinking the problem had something to do with the power settings as it only occured after I had manually put it to sleep and on resume is when it would sometimes crash. I got to thinking that maybe the power settings were somehow trying to turn off the screen even when the computer was asleep which caused a conflict. I have now changed it back to auto turn off the display after 15 minutes to see if the BSOD comes back.
I have also updated my NVIDIA drives yesterday as well. I will be back if the BSOD's return.
