BSOD Watchdog Violation everytime I try to to watch a video on youtube

Recently I have been having many BSOD DPC Watchdog Violations while watching youtube. It doesn't seem to happen while playing a game like Rome Total War though occasionally it stutters a bit. I noticed that this only started happening recently and I think it is due to an update? Or at least I remember my computer did an update a while ago and then this started to happen. I assume it's a driver issue, but I am unsure which one! Any help would be appreciated as it gets very annoying when I am half way through a video and it stutters and crashes. I believe I attached the zip dump file. Attachment 148248

  3. DPC Watchdog Violation while watching youtube videos

So I was watching a youtube video on Chrome when I encountered a BSOD that listed the DPC Watchdog violation as the cause. I have no idea how to fix it. I have the dump file attached below. Thank you.

BSOD Watchdog Violation everytime I try to to watch a video on youtube

    Hello Bollox79,

This problem has cropped up a number of times and is always associated with ASUS laptops using a wireless Network driver called rtwlane.sys

    Yours is this one:
rtwlane Realtek Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E Network Adapter c:\windows\system32\drivers\rtwlane.sys

Use device manager to rollback your driver to an earlier one.

See these other threads for examples:
BSOD with stopcode DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, bug check error 0x00000133

BSOD, everytime i watch videos on youtube, DPC watchdog violation

Thanks for the response! Rolled back to an older driver (2016 I believe).

The rtwlane.sys was reset with the newest driver per the logs:
    Last Reset 8/10/2017 4:53 PM
    Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\rtwlane.sys (2023.43.914.2016, 6.03 MB (6,320,640 bytes), 3/18/2017 4:56 PM)
It may be the 2015 driver that is needed to reduce the frequency of the bsod or provide a stable driver. See if you can find a drive in this time period.

Open the Asus website and enter the couputer's serial or product number and the operating system.
Then view all of the Realtek drivers and look for rtwlane.sys
Find all of the drivers. Change the operating system to windows 8.1 or 7.0 if necessary to see the availability of older drivers.
Post images into the thread of all of the drivers found for the computers configuration.

If there are any new bsod please post an updated zip:

@zbook I think the OP will find the 2016 driver should work fine. If he finds that the BSOD comes back again, the first thing to check will be to see if the driver was updated again by Windows to the 2017 version; if not, then he should rollback to an earlier driver from 2015 as you suggest.

Thanks for your responses guys. For the record I've been watching youtube a lot with the rollback dated 2016 driver and so far no BSOD watchdog violation... though occasionally I swear I hear a bit of a stutter... but that might be my imagination. So far, so good. I'll keep you updated if I do in fact run into another problem. Is there a way I can turn off the windows update stuff so it doesn't update the driver?

    Cheers,
    Charlie
