  1. BSOD when opening many tabs in Microsoft Edge

So I was able to recreate this issue three times already. I open many tabs in Edge that it brings my RAM usage to about 95% and naturally will get notified by Win10 that my memory consumption is high and I should close some applications to free up memory. BUT it should never BSOD, it should just slow down the system, of course.

    1.) 1st BSOD - SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
    2.) 2nd BSOD - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE
    3.) 3rd BSOD - KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

All my system drivers are up-to-date. My CPU and RAM OC are 24x7 Prime95 stable. But I initially suspect it's because of the RAM OC (primary and secondary timings tightened). So what I did now was to put the secondary timings all to Auto and I'll try recreating the issue now. But I figured to post right away as I want your opinion on the dump files.

Here is the debug compressed file:

    Please help. Thanks.

    :)

  2. Microsoft Edge closing tabs and opening them up in new windows by itself. Also closing itself randomly.

    Hi Kirsten,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

This issue may have caused due to corrupted system files or virus etc.

I would suggest you to try the below methods and check if that helps:

Method 1: Run the System File Checker tool

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Press Windows key + X and click
    Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    sfc /scannow

Note: Do not close this Command Prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The scan results will be shown after this process is finished.

Method 2: Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free downloadable security tool that provides on-demand scanning and helps remove viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. It works with your existing antivirus software.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To rerun a scan with the latest anti-malware definitions, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Method 3: Run the command in Powershell

Press Windows key + X and click
    Command Prompt (Admin)

Type the following command and press Enter

    Get-AppxPackage | % { Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015.4.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" -verbose }

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

BSOD when opening many tabs in Microsoft Edge

Please remove all overclocking while troubleshooting, no matter if it is stable or not.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Nvidia. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver, you can use this tutorial to do so *Arrow NVIDIA Drivers - Avoid Problems - Windows 7 Help Forums

  5. Ok regaridng the overclocking.

And I already did use DDU and installed the latest Nvidia driver even before posting here. I'm assuming the 1st amd 2nd minidumps don't show that I already installed the latest driver (cause I still didn't that time) but the 3rd one does (as I already did that time). Can you please confirm this?

After DDU how did you install the drivers? Did you install everything or did you uncheck some things?

  7. I installed only the graphics driver and physx. That's how I always do it.

EDIT: For what it's worth, here's a screenshot of my current nvlddmkm.sys file for your reference:

If a BSOD happens again just reply again with a new zip *Smile

    I can confirm this.

  9. [/quote] I will *Smile So far so good though. After putting back the secondary timings to their default Auto values and bugging the system with several tabs in Edge again (up to a point where the system would complain about low memory), it didn't BSOD.

No BSOD for a few weeks, not exactly a 'false alarm' *Smile

The Nvidia routine needs to be used again

  12. Yeah, I figured. Right after posting, I noticed that there's a newer version of the NVIDIA driver so that's what I did. Is that's what causing the BSOD based on the the dump file?

Again the nvidia driver, though I am wondering which of the 2 may be causing the problem. I would suggest to remove either of the GPUs and see how it goes.

  15. That's weird. I'll dig more into this and will let you know. Thanks.
