    Windows update crashed computer which says windows install didn't complete whenever I try to boot it.

    So I unplugged all drives and installed a new drive and did fresh win 10 install on it but it BSOD on atikmdag.sys - every time.

    I unplugged Ethernet and did another fresh install and whenever I plug in Ethernet it again BSOD on atikmdag.sys. I've updated the Radeon drivers as well as Intel Ethernet Drivers. Crash file attached.

  2. Windows 10 Upgrade BAD_POOL_HEADER Intel Driver Issue

    Desktop running Windows 7 x64 - Loaded about 3 months ago.

    Motherboard is ASUS X99-E WS, i7-5820K, 64GB Ram

    Attempting to Upgrade to Windows10 fails with 0xC1900101-0x4000D and BSOD BAD_POOL_HEADER

    Tried all the suggestions: remove AntiVirus, Clean Boot, nothing worked until I finally found that removing the Ethernet Cable, would allow Windows 10 to install correctly.

    Did all the install attempts from an ISO I burned to a DL-DVD via the media creation rather than from Windows Update.

    However once sitting at my new Win 10 desktop, plugging in an Ethernet cable into either of the two LAN ports on this mobo would get a BSOD with BAD_POOL_HEADER within seconds of plugging in the cable.

    I did many rollbacks to Win7 x64 and restarted the Win 10 Upgrade as I tried all possible available Intel LAN driver combinations after quite a number of rollbacks until I figured out what was causing the BSOD in the first place.

    I downloaded the latest ProSet x64 for Windows 10 from Intel's web site and tried with that driver (Aug 25th driver v20.3) same issue, grabbed the latest WHQL driver for Intel Gigabit network for Windows 10 from Asus site (Aug 6 v20.1.2019.0),
    Same Problem.

    The motherboard has two LAN ports, Intel I218-LM and I210. It doesn't matter which driver I use, the one that would have been installed during the Windows 10 Upgrade, the latest Win 10 WHQL Intel network driver from Asus, nor from Intel's web site. All drivers
    fault right after plugging in an Ethernet cable. If I plug it into the I218-LM port then I get a BAD_POOL_HEADER if I plug it into the I210 LAN Port, then its a KMODE exception.

    So, I have found no method for me to upgrade to Win 10 as yet.

    If there us anything I can retrieve from the upgrade process which can help sort this out please let me know. When the BAD_POOL_HEADER BSOD occurs the dump gets to 100% but just runs the CPU to 100% and never restarts the PC, and considering the issue is
    the internet connection, there's no way it will ever send an error report to Microsoft. But if there is anything I can retrieve from or during the upgrade process that will help just tell me what and where to retrieve it from.

  3. Not able to install Ethernet drivers.

    im a win 10 pc user, i installed ver 15 updates of the win 10 after that i cant able to connect to the internet, to resolve this i searched through various forums and ended up deleting realtek ethernet control drivers and net work adapters , now what the
    problem is my pc's ethernet port has damaged due to thunderstrom and its not working so i was using the ethernet tp usb converter plug, if i download and install the realtek drivers ,at the end of installation the setup says that please plug the ethrnet cable
    and try again. i dono what to do and how to deal with it, is there a way to manually set up the ethrnt adapters or any other.. pls help

    BSOD when plugging in Ethernet fresh Win 10 install

    It was reported as a clean install without BSOD followed by BSOD when connected to the Internet.
    The problem may be Windows updates of non-Microsoft drivers or it may be malfunctioning hardware.
    All of the dumps when debugged displayed misbehaving AMD graphic drivers:
    Atikmdag.sys
    Atikmpag.sys

    Perform the following steps:
    1) Backup any important files to another drive
    2) Make sure there is no connection by wireless or ethernet.
    Turn off wireless with a keyboard hardware button if available.
    3) On a working computer create a bootable windows 10 iso:
    Download Windows 10
    4) perform a clean install deleting all partitions, making an unallocated drive, > install windows 10 version 1711.
    5) This will be a clean install "vanilla type" with only the default windows 10 iso and default drivers.
    There should be no Windows updates and no files or applications should be installed.
    6) Observe the computer for stability/instability for 2 -3 days as a "vanilla type" clean install.
    If there are BSOD without Windows updates look for a friend, neighbor, relative, or local store to swap the video card.
    Test the problematic computer's card in another computer and test another computer's video card in the problematic computer.
    What are the test results for each of these during the swap?
    If there were no BSOD without windows updates for 2 - 3 days then turn on wireless. (Don't connect to ethernet)
    Observe for BSOD.
    Check windows updates to see whether they were or not done automatically.
    If they were not immediately done observe the computer connected via wireless without windows updates.
    Then perform windows updates and observe for BSOD.
    Now connect to ethernet and observe for BSOD.
    Then perform windows updates via ethernet.

    At this point in time you should have the following information:
    a) how did the problematic computer's graphic card perform in another computer.
    b) how did another video card perform in the problematic computer?
    c) was the computer with or without BSOD after a clean install and without windows updates
    d) were windows updates immediately related to new BSOD
    e) what was the impact of connecting ethernet
    etc.
    As you make progress with the above steps please report the results into the thread.

    It may take several days or even a week to see if all is fixed.
    Stress testing the system to see if it produces freezing, temperature problems, crashes with or without bsod is another option.
