BSOD when starting a game, pls check minidumps

Hi, I have a problem which came back after reinstalling windows a while back. After some troubleshooting i am stuck now. When i start a game, my computer will crash after about a minute. Happens in almost all games. I tried sfc and dism, also updated all drivers and apps. Also tried the driver verifier that created the dumps, and removed 1 driver after which the issue jumped to another driver. This is a link to my minidump files. could you take a look into this? 2. BSOD - Bug Check Analysis, Pls Help!

    Hi

    Thanks for your reply.

I have checked the logs for you. Your problem was caused by cdd.dll.

cdd.dll stands for Canonical Display Driver, and it plays a role in the Windows operating system's display system, particularly in graphics rendering. Here’s a detailed explanation:

    1. Canonical Display Driver (CDD):
      • cdd.dll is a system file in Windows that is part of the Canonical Display Driver. It’s used primarily for rendering graphics in a Windows environment.
      • It works in conjunction with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) to handle complex graphics rendering tasks, especially in environments where advanced graphics hardware acceleration is used.
    Role in Minidump Logs

When you encounter cdd.dll in minidump logs, it usually signifies that there was an issue related to the display driver or the rendering process at the time of the crash or BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). Here’s what it typically means:

    1. Graphics Rendering Issues:
      • The presence of cdd.dll in a minidump log can indicate that there was a problem with how the system was handling graphics rendering. This might involve conflicts with the display driver or issues with how graphics are being processed.
    2. Possible Causes:
      • Driver Conflicts: An outdated or corrupted display driver could cause cdd.dll errors.
      • Hardware Issues: Problems with the GPU (graphics processing unit) or its connections could lead to errors involving cdd.dll.
      • Software Conflicts: Other installed software, particularly those that interface with the display, might conflict with cdd.dll.
    Troubleshooting Steps

If you encounter cdd.dll related errors in your minidump logs, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    1. Update Display Drivers:
      • Ensure that your display drivers are up to date. Visit the official website of your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest drivers.
    2. Run System File Checker:
      • Use the System File Checker tool to scan and repair corrupted system files:

    3. Check Hardware:
      • Inspect your GPU and ensure it’s properly seated and functioning. You can also run hardware diagnostics to check for issues.
    4. Inspect for Software Conflicts:
      • Uninstall any recently installed software that might interfere with the display drivers or rendering process.

In summary, cdd.dll is an essential system file associated with graphics rendering in Windows. If it appears in your minidump logs, it points to issues related to the display system. By updating drivers, checking for system updates, running diagnostics, and ensuring hardware integrity.

Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.
