  1. BSOD when turning off receiver, nvhda64v.sys has failed.

Not sure what has caused this spontaneous problem to occur, perhaps a recent NVIDIA update, but I am not sure. My monitor and Sony TV are connected to my Yamaha receiver via HDMI. Whenever I am finished extending to the TV and turn off the receiver/TV there is a ~40% chance I get the BSOD. Oddly enough, if I do not get the BSOD and turn the receiver/TV back on, the playback device responsible for my speakers' sound dissapears and will not return unless I restart the computer. These issues are less than 2 weeks old. The stop code is: System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled. What failed is: nvhda64v.sys, which I believe is the HDMI Audio Driver from NVIDIA. In response, I attempted reinstalling all NVIDIA drivers to no avail. Additionally, I reinstalled windows last night, but the problem persists. Any help would be much appreciated.

    :)

  5. Hello axe0,

Thanks for your reply. I did not attempt a restore point, but I did uninstall/reinstall the drivers, then performed a fresh windows install so I don't know if I can restore anymore. I have updated all of my system specs now.

I hope you haven't used that program since the fresh Windows install? *Smile

  7. Sorry, what program are you referring to? Additionally, I forgot mention in my initial post that I also get a BSOD instantly if I put the computer in sleep.

Oh sorry I did not see that message, yes I have ran DB4 to fix the middle button on my mouse. I can't remember whether or not I installed DB4 before the first BSOD occured. I first installed DB4 on Feb 14. Is there a way to check if there was a BSOD before that date?
Attached is a list of the drivers I have updated with DB4, I don't see any NVIDIA drivers inside. Aside from DB4 I have manually updated my Asmedia USB3.0 controller to get my usb 3.0 working properly. Will I require a fresh windows install to continue?

Edit: I'm not 100% sure if I am interpreting this program correctly, but in BlueScreenView, when I click on the dump file 022017-19593-01.dmp, underneath it it says there is filename nvhda64v.sys in red with a time string of Jan 13 2017, can I assume that this occured before I touched DB4?

It looks like DB4 mainly touched Intel drivers, it is highly recommend to install drivers mainly from ASUS only. Download Intel and ASMedia drivers from ASUS to get rid of the installed drivers by DB4.

  10. Alright so DB4 changed:

    1. ASMedia 3.0 controller
    2. bluetooth driver
    3. intel gigabit network driver
    4. a group of Intel chipset drivers (usb host controllers, lpc controller, PCI-to-PCI bridges, SM Bus Controller, Memory controller)

I have manually downloaded a driver for all of them from their respective pages and have installed them on top of the previous versions, except for the Bluetooth driver which I just uninstalled. For the intel chipset drivers I installed something called Intel Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility) which has the version 10.1.1.42, date 1/17/2017, however some of the intel chipset drivers listed above did not change (I checked using device manager, their versions and dates did not change). Not sure what to do at this point, I am willing to reinstall windows again, but if I choose the option to keep my personal files, will it restore all original driver versions as well?

No, only your personal files are left intact. Programs, drivers, software settings, and all other stuff not related to personal files are reverted to the default (or removed)

  12. Alright I will go forward with the windows reinstall. After it is complete, what do you recommend I do? Should I see if I can trigger the BSOD before I install anything else, such as NVIDIA drivers?

BSOD when turning off receiver, nvhda64v.sys has failed.

Yes, but you may not need the Nvidia audio drivers. If you don't I would suggest to not install them.

  14. I usually install NVIDIA Geforce Experience and then update the drivers through there. Do you think I could selectively exclude the audio driver and if I did, would I be losing anything such as performance/quality?

You would have to choose advanced setup and manually uncheck the audio drivers.

You could uncheck all possible options (except display driver) without loosing performance.
