Windows 10: BSOD which seemed to break the analogue audio on my laptop

Hi there - I hope someone can help, I've sunk a LOT of time into trying to solve this riddle myself.

A few days ago I had a random BSOD - the first I've ever had on this computer. I had audio muted at the time, so I can't confirm that this is exactly when it occurred, but in the couple of days since it appears that the audio has completely stopped working on my laptop.
The weird thing is Windows thinks there is no issue with drivers etc, troubleshooter sees no problem, reinstalling/uninstalling drivers makes no change, yet the Sound Mixer confirms that there is NO sound signal being registered by the system.
Even weirder (perhaps) if I connect it via HDMI to my home theatre, AAC files play no sound but DTS audio is output just fine! I can't get the stupid thing to make any sound except bitstreaming DTS.

I even used Windows Restore to restore to the 21st of January, prior to the failure, but that hasn't fixed it. Updated APU drivers (at the ASUS support's request) and set BIOS to "optimum recommended settings". Nothing.

ASUS have agreed to have it returned on warranty but I am hoping to fix it myself.

All I can think is that the BSOD may have something to do with it. The bug code says it's a memory error though?

Do you want to conver analogue audio to digital and if so, what type of medium (Tape, LP . . . etc.) is the original audio on?

 

Can not record audio.

• Type troubleshooting on the search box.
• Click View all.
• Select Recording Audio.
• Follow the steps to troubleshoot Recording Audio.

Windows 10 Pro and Ergnomic Break Reminder

Do you remember installing any break reminder software?



It looks like it is a pop up from a break reminder software.



I suggest you to look for this in Programs in features and uninstall it if do not use it.



Try the following steps:

• 
  Press Windows + R keys to open Run Command
  
• 
  Type Appwiz.cpl and hit enter
  
• 
  Search for the programs and un-install it.
