After clicking on farcry 3 I instantly blue screened, with system THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (ntfs.sys)

 

roughly how many hours does memtest take?

 

Depending on how much RAM you have it takes several hours.
But it must be at least 8 passes!

I noticed that when I went into task manager that I only had 8gb, so I switched the slots around and it recognised 16gb, ive been running farcry 3 for 20 mins now and no crash, but ill report back when another crash happens, also I will do memtest before I go to bed *Smile

 

Sounds a little bit like a faulty slot.

just got home after being out for 4 hours, computer didn't crash nothing in minidumps, you might be right, but still tonight i'll leave my pc on for 10 hours on memtest and take a picture on my phone and upload it here *Smile

 

If the problem is indeed a faulty slot, that means that the problem is with the mainboard.
You can still use the mainboard, but it is not advised to use it.

 

yeah, ive still had no BSOD's yet

 

well I wont be upgrading to 4 slots of ram, until game advance to that, so mark as solved?
