Windows 10: BSOD Windows 10 NETIO.SYS (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)

Hello everyone,

I have started getting some BSOD issues on my machine. It started roughly 5 days ago, and I really can't think back as to what changed, but from what I remember I did not download any new programs except for one game (The Division). I do not get this BSOD while playing, so I cannot attribute it to that. About a month ago I did an upgrade to my computer where I switched from AMD to Intel, and did not to a clean install. I had no issues since about a week ago when I started getting the BSOD. It has not happened often, maybe once a day but between the last 2 days it has happened a lot. Yesterday it happened about 4 times in the 5 hours I was working on an assignment. I had Chrome, One Note, and Netbeans open. I closed One Note after one of the resets, but left Chrome and Netbeans as I was working with them. The high occurrence rate while Netbeans is open has led me to believe it might have something to do with that, but after searching online, I can't see anythign that points to it. It usually points to either Avast or some other malware app which I have already tried uninstalling to no success.

I have IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL problem

while i was watching youtube and instaling avg antivirus program it appear BSOD whit message DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (NETIO.SYS) i hope you can help me.

 

BSOD while playing videos in VLC Media Player

I have been continuously been getting this BSOD error "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". NETIO.sys is the file that has been failing.

My system is a Intel Core i5 6400 Asus H-170 mobo 8GB Kingston HyperX 2133.

Do two things at first.

First, Download and Install Intel LAN driver version 20.2 from GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-Z170XP-SLI (rev. 1.0)

Second, Free up startup. Windows does not need them to run, but they causes various issues.

• Right Click on the Start Button.
• Click on "Task Manager" on the context menu.
• Click on "Startup" tab.
• Select an Item, Click on the "Disable" button at the bottom right corner of the window.
• Do it for all Items (you may keep Rainmeter if you want).

See How it goes. Let us know.

Report us for any further BSOD.

EDIT: Also, as you are an insider, plan to update to the Build 14291.

 

Thanks for the reply. I am downloading the insider preview update, and the Intel LAN driver. I have also disabled Realtek Audio Manager, Logitech Gaming, Fresco Logic (No idea what this is), and Delayed Launcher (from Intel) for now. I left rainmeter, dropbox and audioswitch.

Also, I have never had an Asus product in my machine so I did not find any Asus related software or drivers on my machine. As a side question, will a fresh install of Windows and purchasing a license to no longer be on an insider build be recommended? I mainly ask because I have switched various hardware components and many of their old drivers and files, even though I uninstalled all that I could, are left over. So I have plenty of AMD files since my system used to be running on an AMD cpu.
