  1. BSOD with UWF enabled - how to generate memory dump files

    Dear

We're using W10 2016 LTSB with Unified Write Filter enabled. Our devices are joined to the domain.

When the write filter is enabled and the clients are connected to the corporate network it's possible that on the next boot they blue screen with code BAD SYSTEM CONFIG. We are able to reproduce the issue by pushing some software installation and shutting the client down while it's performing the installation. However, we are part of a big company with other teams that are able to push software as well so we're still not sure what is causing the BSODs.

Anyway, I'd like to troubleshoot it further but I need the system to perform a memory dump. With the write filter disabled this poses no problem, I can generate the memory.dmp file. But when UWF is on it disables paging files so no memory dump file is created. The issue with the blue screen only occurs when the write filter is enabled so I need to find a way to enable the paging files.

Does anyone out here have any experience troubleshooting BSODs/generating dump files with UWF enabled?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. BSOD not generating any Dump files...

    Thanks Richard.

I see the dump files were not generated due to an error.

    Windows Hello Driver is crashing.

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WindowsHelloFaceSoftwareDriver\0000.

Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation.

Because WMD is not a good tool to check memory, I suggest you to use memtest86+

Looks like a Memory test is required.

I suggest you to Run memory test for at least 8 passes, preferably Overnight.

When the test completes post back the Image(You can use your phone's camera).

  3. Driver verifier dump file BSOD

The Memory dump you uploaded was had a bugcheck of 50, not C4(Driver verifier Detected Violation). Nothing constructive was found in the dump, though.

    Step 1:

Configure your PC to generate MiniDumps:

Configure Windows 10 to Create Minidump on BSOD

    Step 2:

    Do a memory Test:

    Memory problems.
