  1. BSOD's More and More Common Don't Know of Cause...

Well, something must have changed since Windows updated, as I'm now getting very frequent BSOD's again. I once even got a BSOD, restarted and before the computer even started up, I got another BSOD...

    Here's the requested data: JOSHDESKTOP-2016_07_14_(木)_173041_19.zip

Not sure what more to say, I am running the Windows 10 Preview Build 14379, but I don't think that's the cause.
Any idea of how to solve this problem? Thank you!

    Hello,

I usually never get BSOD's or if I do, it's once in a year so I don't bother and I have almost no experience with them, but I started out getting them once every few weeks, then once a week, then once every couple days, then once a day, and I have gotten about 4 today... I tried to figure out the problem by looking in Event Viewer and trying to modify permissions of the APPID which seems to be Cortana, but couldn't find the APPID in Component Services.

Here's the log info: Attachment 71281

I'm concerned that the computer may crash again soon, so I'm sorry if this is quickly and badly written, but I can't figure out the cause and it's getting to be a huge issue. I don't think this is simply an issue with running the preview build of Windows as the first few BSOD's occurred prior to updating to the preview builds.

Can someone help me solve this problem? Thank you! *Smile

    :)

PC lockup/freezes becoming more and more common. Windows 10, pictures included.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

    • I built the PC myself, I forgot to mention that but I included my specifications in my first post.
    • I don't have a system restore point from before it began as it has occurred for months, starting when my PC was only 1-2 months old it happened once and then didn't occur again for 1-2 months, but since then it's been every few week up until now where
      it's happening everyday.
    • I have not experienced any performance issues outside of games, although most of my time on the computer is spent playing games.
    • The hang/freeze forces me to have to hold the power button down on my computer to turn it off as nothing responds, the caps lock light doesn't even turn on/off, even though my computer is still on and the fans are running etc. The image just stays frozen
stuck on what I was doing as it happened.

I have tried a clean boot state and still had the freeze/hang occur.

    Thank you.

PC lockup/freezes becoming more and more common. Windows 10, pictures included.

My PC is less than a year old and I get these lockups/freezes randomly when playing games. When they occur, I have to hold the power button down on my PC to turn it off as the image completely freezes and not
even the caps lock light turns on, although the fans are still running and my computer is still on.

In the past I used to get these freezes once every 3-6 weeks, but recently it's been everyday and I have no idea what is causing it.

Here's what I have tried so far:

Updating my BIOS, as well as all drivers and firmware.

Memtest for 14 hours, no failures.

Stress test with OCCT for 1.5 hours each: CPU and GPU. No issues, with CPU staying under 71 degrees Celsius and GPU no higher than 65.

Here is a screenshot of my temps/voltages displayed via OCCT on my second monitor 30 seconds after my last freeze/lockup 15 min ago: Imgur -
as you can see I was playing Overwatch.

And here is a screenshot of the errors in Event Viewer after I turned my PC back on after the freeze/lockup:Imgur -
the error at the top appears 7 times, the rest are once each.

    Would really appreciate any help!

Note: I did post a similar problem a few days ago but I have updated this one with more information.

BSOD's More and More Common Don't Know of Cause...

    Hi WolfLeader116,

    Welcome to the 10forums *Smile

In the dumps I have analysed there is 1 driver flagged, but I noticed a thing.
The driver that caused 1 of the crashes is the Realtek GBE Family controller driver, but given the stacks of other dumps which shows Windows USB drivers and Windows network drivers I am suspicious about another network device which is "802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card".
Given its name and the background of USB network adapters causing problems when network drivers are being flagged I would suggest to update the drivers of this device via the company that provides them or remove this device.

  5. [/quote] I can't remove the WiFi adapter or get another one as my other one is used by a different computer and can't disconnect Ethernet, but I have tried updating the driver from here as it is the extra adapter I have from my RaspberryPi... I haven't had a crash yet, but the computer hasn't been running for very long. If I get another BSOD, should I just add a new log file to this post?

Thank you for your help! I hope it works. *Smile

How else would I know what causes the crash? *Wink

  7. Well it didn't crash all day yesterday! I'd personally like at least a week of no crashes before I assume the problem's gone though. But so far, I've done everything I could think of I was doing when it had a BSOD for in case some other program triggered the crashes and nothing!

BSOD's More and More Common Don't Know of Cause...

Looking at the frequency of the crashes in the past week I would suggest to see for a few days how it goes, but if you would like to take a week, no problem *Smile

  9. Well I haven't had a single crash for the last 4 days since I had gotten 3 or 4 all on one day!

Thank you so much for your help! You are great at helping people to solve these BSODs and I have never before had as much support as you have given me anywhere else! *Smile Thank you again and have a great day!
