  1. BSODs while gaming... all related to ntoskrnl.exe

Hello everyone. I recently put together a pc with a new motherboard, CPU, GPU and RAM. I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and ever since, I have encountered several BSODs when gaming (WoW, steam games etc.). Normal PC functions and web browsing are fine... I have yet to get a BSOD there. They only happen when I fire up a game. I have only recently been capturing them via BlueScreenViewer and WhoCrashed. Anyway, the culprit is always ntoskrnl.exe. I have tried updating every driver and have spent a lot of time reading these forums and other sites. I am not the greatest pc mind but I can follow directions pretty well.

I am at a loss trying to figure this out. I am hoping it is something simple buried in these dumps/logs. I did run a memtest prior to stumbling across these forums and it came back clean but I noticed you all recommend running the test 8 times so that is something I can do. I will also try the Furmark GPU test as well.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    :)

  2. Recurring BSOD crashes after using specific software (Axure RP Pro)

The causes of the BSOD's are related to BAD_POOL_CALLER and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION related to the drivers; ntoskrnl.exe+16c560 and win32kbase.sys

    BSOD ntoskrnl.exe+142480, 0x00000101, did test: DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (avc3.sys)

While last reply I had 3 more BSODS, 3 more .dmps.

All of them were while playing like before.

All of them with those causes:

    0x00000101

    ntoskrnl.exe+142480

The "0x00000124, ntoskrnl.exe" which I had once in that time seems to be unique.

    Done things:

    No BSOD

    -prime95 4hours

    -3dMark Benchmarks

    Still BSOD

    -deinstalled bitdefender

-deinstalled gigabyte center software with components (oc software etc.)

    -installed old nvidia driver

-set ram profile from xmp (3000) to normal 2133

Please ignore Bluescreen Viewer & WhoCrashed, these programs are not useful.

It seems your memory is running at a frequency that is not even supported at overclock by your motherboard.
    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1151 - GA-B150M-DS3H DDR3 (rev. 1.0)

First suggestion, test your system with memory that does use supported memory frequency.

  5. Updated system specs. Interesting that the motherboard is calling out for DDR3 but the box it came in says it supports DDR4. I will have to purchase a DDR3 stick and try it once it comes in. Any other things I can try in the meantime? Thanks!

Your CPU will be incompatible with DDR3 RAM.

What did you check when building the system and where did you check it?

  7. Ugh, seriously? That's frustrating. The motherboard box states it is DDR4 compatible. I went to a local Microcenter and one of the sales people there assisted with the components. I guess I am looking at new motherboard then?

  9. Here is the link to the motherboard that matches what is showing on the box. So even though the memory is being brought down to 2133, it's causing conflicts with the CPU? Sorry, just want to understand how finicky these things are. It looks like if I went with a DDR4 2133 I should be ok per the Intel site?

Thanks again for all of the help and sorry for all of the questions!

Didn't know I took the wrong version of the motherboard *Redface

With the current information you should be ok with the CPU & memory, the BLS8G4D240FSA you have will be brought down to 2133MHz what would cause no problems as it is listed in the memory support list.

  11. Ok, cool. So any other thoughts as to what is causing the BSODs? =)

I have quite some thoughts about what could cause the BSODs. To start, the varying BSODs is a suspect of the RAM.

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 complete passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Make a photo of the result and post it.

    Addition:
If errors show up you can stop the test, remove all sticks but 1 and test this single stick in each slot for 8 passes or until errors show, switch sticks and repeat.
If errors show up and you see them a lot later, no problem, the errors don't affect the test.

Alright, sounds good. I will get this running tonight and post the results. Thanks!

  14. Memtest complete. No errors found. I did not get a screenshot but I am attaching the report it generated. If you scroll to the bottom, you will see, 8 passes with 0 cumulative errors.
