Windows 10: Bug causing keyboard switcher in tray to appear, even though only one keyboard is installed

The keyboard switcher appears in tray and shortcut key is activated, even though only one keyboard is installed. A workaround to temporarily fix it is by adding the US QWERTY keyboard, and then remove it again. As soon as I click remove, it dissappears from tray. When I restart the computer it appears again and I have to repeat it.If I click Add keyboard, select US - QWERTY, and then remove it immediately again, the tray ENG NO in tray dissapeears.

How to remove unwanted keyboard from the input switcher

• I installed the latest version of Windows 11 via Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) provided by Microsoft Software Download.
  
• During the installation of Windows, I found that the only language available is English (United Kingdom), although I use English (United States) language when browsing Microsoft website!
  
• So after installing, I found that the "Windows display language" is English (United Kingdom).
  
• I installed the all English (United States) features and set it as Windows display language.
  
• Then I removed English (United Kingdom) from preferred languages list.
  
• However, English (United Kingdom) keyboard is still in the input switcher as shown in the next snip!
  
  
  
  
  

• I tried all the instructions in article Remove unwanted keyboard or language from Windows 11 as well as Manage the input and display language settings in Windows but I still have English (United Kingdom) keyboard in the input switcher.
  

How can I:

1. Remove English (United Kingdom) keyboard or from the input switcher?
   
2. Remove English (United Kingdom) Windows display language list?
   

 

On-Screen Keyboard bug changes foreground window

This On-Screen Keyboard bug changes the current foreground window.

Steps:

1. Open Edge and notepad and maximize them (never minimize them)
2. Select notepad by clicking on it in taskbar (it's now on top)
3. Open the On-Screen Keyboard (in Windows Ease of access)
4. Type a few characters into notepad with the On-Screen Keyboard
5. Minimize the On-Screen Keyboard
6. Select Edge by clicking on it in taskbar (it's now on top)
7. Restore the On-Screen Keyboard by clicking on it in taskbar and use it to type into Edge

Result:

Notepad is now on top

Expected result:

Edge remains on top i.e. the On-Screen Keyboard maintains the current foreground window in which you intended to type.

History:

This superuser Q&A contains links to this bug being reported in windows 8, windows 7 and claims it goes back 17 years to Windows XP.

Workarounds:

Kill the On-Screen Keyboard every time instead of minimizing it. The bug occurs because the On-Screen Keyboard fails to keep track of the current foreground window while minimized.

Patch out the SetForegroundWindow call from the On-Screen Keyboard binary as described in the superuser link above.

Wait 17 more years for Microsoft to fix it.

Tell user to stop being disabled.

 

how to remove keyboard layout?

Hi, For some unknown reasons I have this african (???) keyboard layout added to the keyboard switcher list. I don't want it. How can I remove it? Thanks! EDIT: To clarify this: I have never added this layout, and it is not present in the list at the settings pane.
