    BUG: grouping files from folders that have a dash in the name


    Hi, I found a bug in Windows 10 Explorer when grouping files from folders that have a dash in the name.
    1 Create a folder that will contain two subfolders with names such as: abc-def-ghi and the second abc-defghi. Just make sure they have the same name, except that one dash will be missing in the second folder name. Then paste a few files into both folders.
    2 Return to the main folder to see the two folders and type a dot "." without quotes in the search box and search for it. You will see all the files you have put in the two folders.
    3 Group these files by folder right click > Group by > Folder.
    RESULT: All files are grouped by a folder named abc-defghi, which is not correct since the first folder is named abc-def-ghi.
    A few weeks ago, I sent it to Microsoft via the Windows Feedback app, but I didn't get any response, so I'm writing it here.

    Thanks for the suggestion I have obtained the list of the names of my folders, I have another question, you can.

    Windows 10 search for a specific folder name and file name

    Carlos: Thanks for your reply. What you suggest is what I have been doing. I search for folders with a specific name and get a list. Then I have to search each folder for a specific file. So it's a two step search and that's what I was trying to avoid.

    I assume there are applications out there that allow for an "AND" search in Windows. I'll try that approach.
