Windows 10: [Bug report] Xbox Series X/S controllers not being detected by certain games in Bluetooth mode

THIS IS NOT A HELP TOPIC, THERE IS NO FIX TO THIS. DON'T SUGGEST SOLUTIONS I GUARANTEE YOU I'VE ALREADY TRIED THEM

Some games aren't seeing the new controllers at all. I've updated the controllers firmware and Windows is on the latest update With the optional update too, KB4586853 19042.662. Microsoft says there's an issue with some Steam games not detecting the controllers, and to download the latest Steam beta to fix it, but that doesn't help and it's not just Steam games doing it.

I've also tried removing the device and re-syncing it as someone suggested somewhere else, but that didn't work either. I think the drivers just aren't working correctly because even the Xbox game bar doesn't detect the controller correctly, it calls it an "HID-complaint game controller" and always shows critical battery.

So far some of the games I've noticed that don't detect it at all are

Other games like Devil May Cry 5 will detect the controller, but the buttons will be mapped incorrectly.

All of these games work wired, it's bluetooth mode specifically that does not work. Using a USB cable, the controller is detected as an Xbox One controller in the Game Controllers dialog, but over bluetooth it is a "Bluetooth LE XINPUT compatible input device". Also worth mentioning that the share button is detected as an input when you press it over bluetooth but not wired.

Hopefully they'll update the driver soon, but I wanted to call attention to the topic since I'm not seeing much online other than "Update the firmware".

The Bluetooth steps I gave were only in case you need them. The actual repair steps for your controller were the first links I gave. Have you started on them yet? Please do not skip any steps. We often find out later that the fix was the skipped step.

xbox series x controller via bluetooth not recognized in games

I bought an xbox series x controller (not xbox one) from someone who had an elite and don't need the new controller. I'm sure it's authentic. I can connect it to my windows 10 pc via bluetooth and it appears as an xbox wireless controller.

However in all games it is not recognized as an xbox controller but a generic bluetooth "18 (don't remember the exact number) button controller with HAT" or something. And it doesn't work in any of my games.

Is this a known issue or did I do something wrong? It feels like either the controller is so new windows doesn't know it yet, or I'm missing a driver software, or games need to specifically support it. Anyone has similar experience? Thank you!
