Windows 10: Bug with built-in Mail app in Windows 11

This just never goes away.It was like this on Windows 10 and continues to be a bug on Windows 11 as well.After a few days, it just goes away by itself. But after a couple of days, it starts doing it again.When there's literally 0 mail, nothing in inbox, sent, draft, trash or anything but it still shows a number there.To be honest, I can't believe a company of Microsoft caliber couldn't release a fix for this tiny but sickening bug for more than 3-4 years now.Simply amazing...

Windows 11 Dev build, and Windows 10 Pro 21H2

It's instant with selected pictures via Browse too

And your version? Mail app.

You could reset Mail app. Go to Settings / Apps ( click on Mail and calendar - Advanced and select repair. Reset would be the next step, but in this case the data and settings of the app are lost

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Windows Mail app background bug

Sorry, not sure what you mean. I was talking about choosing a background through the "Browse" button and then repeating that step again with another background. In that case the Mail app won't apply that 2nd background.
